Getting pregnant while BFing

I always thought I wanted to wait until DD was 1 to start trying for another baby, but now I am thinking I might want to try sooner. I was planning on BFing DD until she was 1, and I don't want to cut that short just to get pregnant again.

So - for those who got pregnant while BFing, did it just happen? How difficult is it?

I think it really depends on your body. Many women here said their periods came back within a few months of giving birth although they were still EBF. I mostly EBF (DD gets 2 or 3 bottles of formla 1-2 days a week when I work) and I pump while I'm gone. She's almost 11 months and no period BUT she also gets up a few times a night to nurse.

I think if I REALLY wanted to get pregnant now we'd have to cut out the night feedings. I'm not in a rush and more than willing to let it happen when it happens so I'm not trying to change anything now. How old is your DD?

I had no issue with it at all! I got my period back in December 2011 at 11 months PP. In February, I went off the mini-pill and got pregnant that same month! I continued to BF until he self-weaned at 15 months when I was 2 months pregnant.
