Getting Tylenol into a Toddler....??
DD has a low-grade fever probably from her flu shot. Yesterday, I gave her Tylenol and she gagged so bad that it made her throw up. She will not voluntarily take it.
If I put the medicine into her drink (juice/milk) is it as effective?
Any other tricks I could try??
TIA!

does tylenol have those strips? I know the other brands do. Ive taken them myself and given them to my friends kids. It feels like paper is in your mouth for a half a second and it dissolves. Feel better Leah!!!!!!!

Re: Getting Tylenol into a Toddler....??
My son throws up over everything, especially medicine.
What I do is give it to him either in the cup or dropper and then give him his sippy cup right away and he drinks the water and does not throw up.
That is the only thing that works for me.
My son is 17 months.

I put it into 2oz of juice/water. It works for us. As long as she drinks the whole thing it should be fine.
Hope she feels better soon!

Re: Getting Tylenol into a Toddler....??
It's really tough trying to get kids to "eat" something that they dont want to. They figure out pretty early that they can control what they put in their mouths...
Basically my recommendation is to force her to take it. I know it sounds harsh but it's not really something that is negotiable....in this case her fever is slight but what if it was 105? Or what if she had a severe infection and had to take antibiotics?
My eldest daughter was great with taking medicine and I never had an issue with her...but the twins were a different story. Starting around 2ish they basically refused to take any medicine at all. I tried putting it in bottles, hiding it in food, etc...now while it work "OK" it was exhausting and they caught on pretty quick too...One day I said enough is enough and held them down and forced them to take it. I know, I know, that sounds cruel....but after a couple of doses that way the games stopped.
When I met my DH his DD would do the same thing....One time the twins were here and she was giving him a hard time about taking meds for bad ear infection. After an hour of chasing her around the house the twins told her she'd better just take it and they told her the story of why. They werent horrified...they werent scarred for life...they understood that it was necessary to take it and how important it was. Soon after my DH got fed up and instead of doing what he normally did (let her win) He sat on her and made her take it.....It was the very last time she ever gave him a hard time with taking medicine. (Of course she still makes a face etc but she'll take it)
