YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100% Yes.

I will always give at the 4 hour mark for the rest of my life.

Josh's fever spiked because I was 20 minutes late in giving him his next dose...it was 7 PM...he was sleeping, I decided to wait and get a good rectal reading while he slept so I would know what it was at before the next dose.

then he felt clamy, so I decided to give him a bath...wanted to get water just right, layed out a new diaper for him all while letting him sleep.

within seconds he had a fever induced seizure. not saying that would ever happen to your josh...but it happened because his body could not handle the sudden spike in temperture like an adult's body can.

hope he feels better soon!

Absolutely for all the reasons Janice named.

If their fever goes up too high and you are too late with the dosage you risk febral seizures. Chat Icon

I think Motrin is fine to give as long as you follow the directions. Babies over 6 months, correct dosage amount, every 6 - 8 hours, not exceeding the recommended dosage per day or number of days, etc.

My ped said to give Motrin for fevers above 102. I would absolutely give Motrin for a fever above 102, especially at night.

Hope he feels better!

Re: do you wake your toddler at night to give them tylenol for a fever?

I agree with Janice...YES!!!! DS just got over Roseola and you want to try and keep the fever down instead of letting it get high again and worrying about getting it down. I didnt really wake up DS, I would just pop the dropper in his mouth and he would swallow the tylenol/motrin while he was sleeping. At 103, I would give motrin b/c motrin is the only things that helps the high fevers. Antying under 103, I usually give tylenol. But if DS has a bad fever up and down for a few days like DS did with Roseola, alternate motrin and tylenol every 3 hours.
