getting your infant a passport?? anyone
ever get one and is the procedure the same as an adults? I feel like they change physically more so it it safe to assume its not valid for 10 years?
has anyone ever got one for their infant Also it is hard to get my little guy (8 months) to sit still any suggestions for the picture?

Re: getting your infant a passport?? anyone
It"s only good for 5 years and you and DH have to go in person to apply (my coworker did this recently for her infant)

Re: getting your infant a passport?? anyone
We went a few weeks ago. Its cost about $85 all together. But as of today the passport fees went up (I think its today or tomorrow)
You and DH both have to be there in person
I went to CVS and they did the pictures. They put a sheet over my chest and I held him and they took it
I downloaded the forms off the website and filled them in before going. At my post office (Bay Shore) you could only get a passport by appointment, so call your post office to find out. I think we were there for 15-20 mins
This explains the new fees and you can downlaod the forms

Re: getting your infant a passport?? anyone
you can still go to certain post offices. a few have a place for passport issues. we did that for my dd.
we expedited it because we were going away so it was a little more, but I don't remember how much. (somewhere between 60 and 150 i think. we did DDs and renewed DHs at the same time, so I cant remember how the money was split up.)
bring copies of your DCs birth cert. They took our original bc we didnt bring a copy. they said they would mail it back, but we ended up losing her original in the process :(

We took the picture at a camera store and went to the post office. DS was 6 mos old. I was going to pay to expedite it but it came very quickly (a few weeks).

Re: getting your infant a passport?? anyone
It's good for 5 years. We got his picture taken at the post office. Surprisingly he was still. We just held him and the lady snapped his picture.
We've flown twice with him and they barely look at the passport. They just check the name against the ticket.

Re: getting your infant a passport?? anyone
We went to our local post office and did it all including taking pictures, they said they needed the original birth certificate w/a seal. We got that returned to us about a wk after the actual passport came.
Also, if both parents can't go then one parent can fill out a form (from passport office website) confirming that they are a parent and have it notarized.
My husband brought our son and I didn't go and they brought the notarized form.
