GHI Insurance, IVF? PGD?
I really feel like my life is surrounded with acronyms. I am wondering if anyone has gone through IVF and had PGD?

Re: GHI Insurance, IVF? PGD?
For my cycles 2 years ago I had GHI and did IVF with PGD. What are your questions? Maybe I can help.

Re: GHI Insurance, IVF? PGD?
Thank you so much!
I am going to have to go straight for IVF, because of a genetic condition. I wanted to know if PGD was covered. How long did the entire process take from beg. of meds to actual implantation. How many embies did they put in? How long before you got the results from the PGD before implantation? Did they go to Colorado?
THANKS A MILLION! Sorry for all the questions!

Re: GHI Insurance, IVF? PGD?
I have GHI, but we ended up not having to do PGD. I know it's covered if it is necessary.
Good luck!

I believe the RE portion of the PGD was covered but the lab portion was not (or very minimally)
The length of the entire process depends on what your dr decides to do. For example if you would be on BCP first or like me I just did 5 days of provera before starting injections.
I don't know if you met with RE or not yet but if not they will set you up with the lab (colorado or another mine was detroit) to set up your genetic testing to be ready for the embryo testing. That part I had to wait several months for. After that everything moved quickly like a matter of a few weeks
After the testing I only had 2 embies not infected and put both in. I had 1 DS from that. You literally get the results from the lab just minutes before transfer on the 5th day.
Definitely speak to your RE (where are you going? I went to NSUH) to see thier protocol and then you will have a better idea of time and stuff
Don't worry about all the questions. Keep asking I'll be happy to answer or clarify for you if I can!

Re: GHI Insurance, IVF? PGD?
Thank you so much! I am using RS of NY and have met and discussed this with my RE and just met with a genetic counselor this week, so I have to make the choice which I believe is PGD. I am meeting with RS of NY's PGD lead RE in early March. I guess he will set me up with lab testing right? Do you suggest I call the RE office now and get the ball rolling? I wanted to go through the cycle in May/June/July

Hey,
I know nothing about GHI, but I know my PGD was not covered through my insurance. But this is not why I am replying.
I am replying b/c I did PGD with RS of NY, my main Dr was Dr. Sung (Loved HER!) and I LOVED the PGD Dr. (although His name is slipping my mind right now) He will set you up with everything to call the labs and get the kits... Honestly to get the kits and have your dishes ready it takes a while... maybe like 2 months. Then... you need to start your cycle... so it is a little longer process then just starting a reg cycle... but Def worth it if you have a genetic issue (which we had)
Good Luck! ANd if you have ANY questions you can FM b/c I don't come on this board as often as I used to... But I come in and out to check up on some friends!
Good Luck!
