GHI question

My husband went to the dr. for a checkup today and the dr. told him that GHI doesn't cover checkups, so what should he "put on the chart...?"

Have any of you heard about this?

Re: GHI question

they don't cover physicals in healthy adults in a certain age range. They cover well women visits to the gyno, but not well visits to the regular doctor.

That's crazy!! How do you know if something is wrong if you don't get regular check-ups?

really????????

I just went in February and I was covered no problem. Also, all my bloodwork and a routine EKG was covered. I thought they covered physicals once a year. And as the PP said, regular yearly gyneological check-ups are covered.

I know it is crazy, but that is the deal. I guess they keep costs down that way. Maybe your doctor put down a reason on the insurance form so that it was covered.

My very funny DH told him that he had trouble peeing one day last week and the dr. wrote that down. Chat Icon

Re: GHI question

DH and I have GHI through the city (he's a city sanatation supervisor) and he just went to the Dr. for a yearly physical and EKG and he just had to pay the co-pay. My physicals and EKG at the dr. and my check up's at the OBGYN are covered too.

Re: GHI question

I have a fatty tumor deposit on my side...i always tell him to bill me for that because a routine check up and physical are not covered.

Also, my obgyn wanted to see me in 6 months after I started to pill, but I am only covered for one visit per year. I'll have to tell him to bill me for something else.
