gift advice: birthday present for new mom?
hi
mom-to-be here.... My SIL just had a baby girl last month.... She also has a son who is 2. To be candid for a moment, BIL is a lazy dad who does NOTHING AT ALL. The poor woman goes to school part-time, works, AND takes care of the kids, while he loafs around and makes a mess She's obviously superwoman.
other than setting her up on a date with a decent guy , what would you suggest we give her as a birthday gift? They're on a very tight budget, so there are likely many items which would make her life as a mom much easier that she doesn't have.
thanks for your input!

While she might need stuff for the baby...give her stuff for her to enjoy!
GC to watch her baby. GF for nails, hair, massage Take her to lunch Basically stuff for her, to make her feel pretty and relaxed!

Re: gift advice: birthday present for new mom?
yeah, we've done that before... a gift card for a massage...
we can't do the lunch / babysitting thing becuase she lives over 2 hours away frankly, she doesn't even have time for those things anymore
I'm thinking practical right now... anything to help bring some sanity to that place and her life I think anything that would help her gain 20 min of peace would be the best thing at this time... any suggestions for a time saver?

Re: gift advice: birthday present for new mom?
As a mom of two. I'll be honest, I have yet to use my spa g.c. from LAST Mother's Day because it's more trouble than it's worth to have someone watch them all day long. If you could offer to babysit when she goes that would be helpful.
It sounds like the best, and most needed, gift would be a cleaning service or to have food delivered, especially since her DH is lacking in domestic abilities.
