Gift for friend moving OOS??
My dear friend is moving to Texas next week  and I want to get her a gift, nothing too crazy, but something useful for when she's there. She will be living with her boyfriend but doesn't really know anyone else.
What is something unique and thoughtful I can get her... I'm at a total loss!!

What about maps, guides to the area and gift certificates to some places nearby that she can go check out?

I would give her a small journal/scrapbook style album of pics with you two together...include stories about the events with a letter about how much her friendship means and that it will continue to be strong even though you don't live near each other anymore. I'd add a home depot gift card or maybe send a plant to her new home after she gets there.

When I moved to LI, I had a friend ship me some home things with MD themes. For example, cups with crabs on them, crab mallets, a silver serving tray with crabs. It was sweet!

is she driving? Some of my coworkers got me a cooler that fits on top of the center console and plugs into the cigarette lighter.

When my parents were moving OOS she was joking with everyone telling them not to get her any going away gift that she had to pack - just get her something small and easy to pack, like diamond earrings. I like the "memories of home" idea or the thought of guidebooks for her new location. Maybe a combination of both - so she can lessen the homesickness and feel at home in her new location.
