Gifts for hospital nurses
I have heard on here before that some people bring candy/chocolate to the hospital for the nurses. At Good Sam, fhere are the L&D nurses and then the nurses on the nursery floor. Which nurses do you typically get stuff for?

Gifts for hospital nurses
I've seen some people bring in Dunkin Dounuts and a box of joe, or candy/chocolates for the L&D nurses.

I deleivered at Godd Sam and didn't get anything for either and didn't see anyone else getting them anything. I was there for 4 days and it was packed solid when I was there.

I didn't get them anything and they all took super good care of me because my FIL works at the hospital in a higher-up position (I didn't ask for any special treatment! but they were kind enough to give that to me regardless).
What my FIL told me to do was send a thank you note after the fact and that's exactly what I did (along with pictures of DS#1 after he was a few weeks old) -- one each to the L&D team, the nursery team and the maternity team. I did my best to identify the staff by name in each card.

When I worked in L&D they did this. It's weird because as a patient I never bought anything.

DH brought up DD and the box of coffee each day I was there. They seemed to appreciate it.

Re: Gifts for hospital nurses
Good question! I was thinking of having DH bring cookies... One for the day shift and one for the night shift. The DD idea sounds great too! I didn't even think about the nurses in L&D... If I have a great experience in L&D, I will def tell DH to bring them something too. Everyone loves to be appreciated as they should

Re: Gifts for hospital nurses
I honestly wasn't fond of any of the nurses I encountered at St.Charles. I never thought to give them a gift. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of the hospital.

Re: Gifts for hospital nurses
I was planning on giving them (both maternity and L&D) a box of chocolate, but I never did. When my sister had my nephew, he was in NICU for 11 days and she brought the NICU nurses an edibile arrangement after he was discharged.

I think for L&D it isn't necessary - I think people do it more when you are staying in the hospital for an extended period of time.
I brought a dozen donuts and a box of joe to my 6 week appt for my dr's office - they were the ones who were there for me all 9 months!

Re: Gifts for hospital nurses
When DH was hospitalized, after a car crash, years back I had brought up DD and those boxes of coffee for the staff because they took such good care of him. We actually just mentioned to each other the other day that we will be doing the same after the baby is born. I think it's a nice gesture.

WOW!!! Good idea! I totally forgot about the girls who have been dealing with my annoying questions and helping me schedule appts for 9 months!

I felt the same way there, this was almost 5 years ago.

We ordered a huge basket of cookies an brownies for the L&D nurses at St. Charles! My two nurses in L&D were soo sweet! One even came in to check on me twice after dd was born and I was on the maternity side! They were really appreciative for the gift!

Gifts for hospital nurses
My DH had gotten a box of coffee from starbucks in Stony Brook Hospital. The nurse who was amazing to me and very caring he asked her what she liked and got her the latte she loved. The nurses were so happy.
