gifts to help a child remember?
With Christmas coming I wanted to get my daughter something special to help her remember my Dad, her Pop, always.
He passed away a little over a month ago. My DD is 6 and so of course she has tons of memories of her Pop, but I don't want her to ever lose those memories.
One thing we thought about was a Thumbies necklace. The funeral home took his thumbprint for us, and you can get it made into a necklace, but it is VERY expensive...a few hundred dollars, and that's about our limit for Christmas for her in the first place.
I was thinking about some kind of locket necklace with a picture of them from one of our trips to Disney or the special beach we used to go to together.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where I could get one made.

My niece was only a baby when my grandfather passed away but she still talks about him - my sister makes her kodak photo albums with little things written in them. Also, a friend of mine told me about these teddy bears that they make. You give them an article of the person's clothes and they make clothes for the bear out of it.

I think the pendants that have photos on them are very sweet. Also, making a scrap book of him, you can both work on it together. It will a chance for the two of you to discuss fun times and write them down so one day your grandchildren will know the stories too.

i would also record some of her memories now ... as she grows, some will fade. this way, she always has them (video or audio)...
any cards, letters, photos etc ... make a memory box. help her write letters to him that she can always look back on.
all things I wish I had to remember my dad

I think that's a great idea! I also think the locket is really pretty and putting a special picture in there of the 2 of them is really beautiful
