Girl, 2, found in Central Islip pool dies

Ladies, please we all need to watch our DC very carefully espeically weekend.

An 2-year-old Central Islip girl found floating, unconscious, in her family's backyard pool died Wednesday night at the Stony Brook University Medical Center after she was admitted in critical condition.

Jennasia Dominick was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m. about 10 hours after her parents found her in the above -ground pool, police said.

Both of the girl's parents tried to revive her using CPR, police said, and when an ambulance crew and police arrived they took over the lifesaving effort.

The girl had been playing in the backyard when, at about 1:20 p.m., her mother -- who was inside the house -- looked out a window and saw her floating in the pool, police said.

Det. Sgt. Tony Lavista said the mother had thought the child's two older siblings, 15 and 9, were outside playing with the toddler but at some point they had come inside leaving her alone in the backyard.

The ladder to the 4-foot-deep pool was not pulled down, Lavista said, and it is unclear how the girl got into the pool. "Everything is still under investigation," he said.

The case is under investigation by Suffolk homicide detectives, a routine procedure in some deaths. The involvement of the homicide squad does not necessarily mean the police believe, at this point, that criminal conduct took place in the death.

If the ladder was pulled up how did she get in the pool? A 15 year old should know better to leave a 2 year old alone in the backyard (not to say the mother shouldn't of been watching her)

So sad.Chat Icon

Re: Girl, 2, found in Central Islip pool dies

Awful!!!

I wonder why they took her all the way to Stony Brook instead of Good Sam Chat Icon

I just read on News 12 that a nanny and 2 year old were found floating in a pool in Syosset today. Not sure of the condition yet.

I have to say, I would never have my stepdaughters with Cailen unattended where there is a pool for this reason.....
