I think it really depends on the first name for me. I like names that flow well and I tend to like less girly/flowery first names followed by a girly/flowery middle name.

I also think middle names often have a personal meaning.

For us if I have a daughter she would have a same middle name as my grandma, mother and I, Lea (pronounced Lee). If I had a second daughter I would probably use Claire because that was my MIL's mother who died when she was young.

For a boy we will use DH's name because that is a family tradition. A second son we would consider Alfred, depending on the first name, because it covers both my grandfathers and DH's uncle who passed away. But I might also use FIL's name Richard if he goes between now and then which is a distinct possibility.

But it does have to flow. Do you have first names in mind?

It depends on the first name

I think that since you never use your middle name really, its a nice way to honor family.

My mother's name is Rose, so we'll use that for a mn if we have a DD.

Other family names we would use for a middle -

Mary, Lucy, Evelyn

I also think Grace sounds nice with most anything.

Definitely depends on the first name and last name but I am partial to Elise ;)
