Girls, I need your opinions
DH and i have been married for over a yeara nd have been together for over 6 yrs.
TO DATE- i still do not call his parents anything. I really wanna call them "mom" and "dad", but Dh's brother's wife calls them by their 1st names. I just REALLY dont wanna call them by their first names.
This is RIDICULOUS already.
Please, please help me figure out how to approach this

the fact that you WANT to call them mom and dad tells me you really love them and are close
bc of that, i would just outright ask your mil what she would like to be called

I feel like if you are that close to them and really want to call them mom and dad you should just pull them to the side and tell them that. Tell them that you feel close enough to them to call them mom and dad and ask them if they are okay with this.....I could not imagine if you feel close enough to call them "mom and dad" that they dont feel close enough to you to have you call them "mom and dad"

I love my FIL but the thought of calling him Dad disturbs me for some reason. Anywho, if you feel that strongly about your in-laws, you should feel comfortable enough to say, "hey, do you guys mind if I call you mom and dad?" I'm sure they'll be flattered and thrilled. Good luck!

me too! though now I can get away with Nonna and Opa, since thats what Ella will call them.

It's just my MIL but I don't call her anything either after 5 years...if I have to get her attention under dire circumstances I'll call her by her first name.
DH is the same way with my parents.
