I like side by side (Combi is a good one). The reason is there is less fighting over who gets to sit in the front.

I got the Sit N Stand one. I have not taken it to a store, but have gone to the park and around the neighborhood...I really like it and so does Katherine! I'm not sure how old your older one is, but Katherine will be 2 in September, so 22 months now, and she does really well on it.

we just got the peg perego twin aria and i love how light it is. we also have an eddy bauer front to back but i wasn't crazy about it. its much heavier and harder to move.

I have the sit and stand. I am partial to the front to back ones because its easier to get in and out of stores and such. Although I do like the Peg Twin Aria.

We have the Gracco Duo Glider. While I like how easy it is to manuever, it's kinda bulky. When the baby is out of the infant seat, I'll probably get a Sit N Stand.

We are going with a side by side jogger. this is the one we are getting, it fits through doors and you can use it inside and out. I can't tell you how many hours of research and testing went into choosing a double stroller!
I can't wait to use it!

Re: opinions from girls with 2 or more children
how far apart are your kids? I had both side by side and front to back, and like the sit n stand better than both. The side by side was difficult to maunver and awkward when shoppping& going thru doors, the front to back seemed so bulky & heavy. I looooovvve my Joovy!

i have 2 winter babies also- they are only 11 months apart, and im telling you, i wasted waayy too much $$$ on different types of double strollers that I wound up hating & using for a very short time! (my dh wanted to kill me!) i would suggest that you get a *cheap* front-to-back that you can fit the infant carrier in for the beginning (like you said, you probably will only use it a handful of times bc it will be winter) (i got the graco duoglide really cheap at Kmart-Its ok,I guess I would say it was the best one out there-but this is coming from a double-stroller hater!)
and then get the Joovy sit n stand-
by the time the nice weather comes, your DD will almost be 2( that was how old my son was when I first used the sit n stand-he looooved it& felt like a big boy sitting on the back!)
and your new baby will be out of the infant carrier&ready to sit in a reg stroller by then! just wanted to tell you what worked for me, and hope my mistake of wasting $$$ could help ya!

I am getting this one if the infant seat attachment comes out by the time they say other wise I am getting the Urban Mountain Buggy Double since they already have the attachment out. I didn't want to waste getting so many strollers and I really wanted a good stroller for walking.

We tried the Peg Perego Aria (side by side) within minutes our daughter was poking and pushing ou son. We went with a front to back one.

Re: opinions from girls with 2 or more children
We tried both styles and my conclusion was that we could NEVER use a double stroller ever
My boys have always been pokey touchey bother little brother.
So I never used either of them. I mean MAYBE 5-10 times tops, if even that.
Even when we rented the double in Disney, now that theyre both toddlers and last time we went, they were 14m, and 2 1/2 and we purposely brought 2 single strollers.
So I made sure to never go on any outings that required both to be in a stroller. Big brother walked most places (parks/farms). IF we were on playdates during the day. and when daddy was with us, he usually carried the oldest. It worked out pretty well that way actually. phew!
But I do hear more raves for the side by side. My sister has had the Peg Perego Aria and loved it.

Side by side - front/back they are always kicking each other. It is also easier to feed two at once when they are side by side. I love my front/back too but I prefer my side by sides.
