Re: Girls taking Iron supplements
I am on it. I take it once at night. The only side effect is constipation but I'm definately not the best eater so I don't help the cause at all .

Re: Girls taking Iron supplements
I take Ferro-sequels (over the counter) Iron supplement
No side affects No constipation
I bought colace on suggestion from the ladies here but I have never used it.. Been on the iron for about a month
I was told to be sure to drink OJ with your iron to make it digest faster, smoother. So I do.. maybe that's helped?
My poop is unchanged all pregnancy long and lemme tell you that in itself has been such a huge relief to this moderate/severe IBS sufferer!!!
sorry if it's TMI
But I also drink lots of water and eat fiber stuff (habit from IBS) so maybe that's helped too. *shrug*

Re: Girls taking Iron supplements
I am on OTC iron: Feosol Ferrous Sulfate - equivalent of 325mg iron 3x day.
With its best friend Colace as well.
I don't love what it does to my tummy, but I do love the energy I have back since I am on it.

Re: Girls taking Iron supplements
Please ask to get it tested again, especially if it is an issue for you! I wish I had.
I was in a similar situation wherein I had my initial battery of blood testing, then was only tested again at 30 weeks. AT that point, I was severely anemic. At 39 weeks now, I have not been able to make an improvement in my numbers, because as you know iron takes a while to build up sometimes. I am still a high-risk for a transfusion, and that terrifies me.
Good luck!

Re: Girls taking Iron supplements
I've been taking slow Fe for a month now and so far so good, no side effects. It is better on your stomach than a lot of iron supplements and i like that is is slow acting.

It was tested again during the glucose test, so 24 weeks or so.
