Girls that had C-sections...

What was the reason for it and with your next child would you need it again?

For me, my water broke at 4 am and dd was only 6 cm dialated 18 hrs later. DRs said by this point it would be a dry birth and the baby was just not dropping past 6 cm. I did ask if I would be required to do another c-section and he said no but after reading about uterine rupture etc...I am a little puzzled.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had an unusually high amount of amnitoic fluid, which can cause high complications once my water broke. So, we knew once I hit the third trimester that I was going to have a c-section. I guess it helped because of his size too, but that wasn't the original reason. I pray it never happens again.

My sister had a c-section with her first and a natural (no drugs) with her second. Her first she was in labor 36 hours and didn't really progress. It happens.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

After 16 hours of going natural I had a c-section due to scar tissue on my cervix and baby turning sunny side up, and no dilation.

Next one...I'm going to try natural again and hope for a VBAC.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

DS was transverse (sideways) when DW's water broke. Dr basically said we have two options... C, or try and got naturally, but have a good chance of breaking his neck.... tough decision there.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

DD was scheduled, but that was mainly because DW, Dr, and myself weren't comfortable with a VBAC.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

1st one-failure to progress after hours and hours of painful labor-baby posterior
2-dd heartrate dropped-found out at this point-abnormally shaped pelvis-cannot pass a baby unless under 4 pounds.
3-twins-no longer can deliver naturally-will rupture uterus

I was loosing fluid for 2 weeks and didn't know (thought it was normal Chat Icon) . When I went to have my sono at the DR office, they admitted me right away. My white count was up, so they wanted her out. I had an emergency c-section.

She was 2 weeks early

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had an emergency c-section w/Hayley because I was having an abruption of the placenta, I was 35w.

With this baby I am penciled in for a section on 9/5. I really don't want to start to labor only to be told that it is not going to work and I will end up with a section anyway. Plus, I know what to expect and know what the recovery is like. My Dr is fine with my decision and so is DH.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My doc said the baby was going to be big. He ended up being 8lb 14 oz. With this one they say I am going to have another big one so I am scheduled for a c-section.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I was at the hospital overnight, waiting to be induced in the morning. DS's heart rate dropped, so I had an emergency c-section.

My dr. recommends a c-section for my #2, so I will.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My water broke around 8AM on Sunday and Monday (after induction) mid-AM I was only 2cms.
He didn't want to come down.
My Dr. said "I made the incision so, next time if you want to go vaginally, you can".
I don't think that's going to happen though. Im going right for the c section. It was just too much anxiety for me.
Also, my mother and sister both had C Sections due to the same thing (barely dialating) so, don't know if it's coincidence or heriditarty.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I was still sufferering from Complications from my 1st DD's V birth, so i asked for a c section due to medical reasons.

I LOVED my c experience, if that .50000% of me having a 3rd happened, i'd do it again in second.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

After almost 40 hours of labor and about 4 hours of pushing (have no idea why they let me push that long) my dd became stuck in the birth canal... her and I almost died. It was a very scary experience to say the least. My doc and I decided that it was not worth the risk to have that happen again I got a planned c birth the second and third time around. I had great experiences both times.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I was not dilating at all, DS was measuring 9lb 4oz only 2 days before his due date, so they didnt want to let me go too far as he would only get bigger.

My dr didnt want to induce me because she felt I would labor for a long time but either not progress or the baby would be too big for me to push out. He was born on his due date at 9lb 14 oz.

I had a great c-section experience so my next will also be a section.

I was in labor for 18hrs and my blood pressure went up, developed a high fever, dizzines and vomiting. They had to do an emergency c-section.

Oh, and my second was a scheduled c-section.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

Had an emergency c-section after being hooked up in L&D and his heart was low. I was only 8cm and they were trying to stimulate me to open faster, but when he heart rate really dipped, they rushed me into the OR. Doc had originally said that I could try for a VB next time, but after my postpartum visits, he said he could feel I had a lot of interior scar tissue (besides the mess my actual scar looks like), so next time will be a scheduled cs. That's fine with me. The extra 2 weeks home was priceless.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My boys shared the same placenta and my doctor said he would only do c-sections for those types of twins as you take the chance of one twin ripping to other twins umbilical chord out when delivering. So I knew early that I would have one. At the end, they took them early due to signs of TTTS so it would have happened either way.

I would like to try for natural if we have another, but I will follow my doctors advice. My c-section was a total breeze for me so I would not hesitate to get another one.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had a crash c-section. DD's heartbeat was undetectable.
I went from normal labor to being wheeled down hallway and DD was out right away- they couldn't do the normal prep and I had to be put out under general.

for next one, my doc said another section- I know some OB's are more supportive of a vbac than others. I have no problem with having another section.. so that's what I'll do if I am blessed with another child.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

Did they try and give you pitocin and you did not advance or they just waited for you to naturally dilate?

I was stuck at 6 cm with DS for 4 hours and then they put some of that stuff in my IV and DS was born within 3 hours.
