Re: Girls that had C-sections...

Madison was way to big and they said she would not pass, so why try labor when it would not work and yes I am totally for having another section!

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My water broke at 6:45 am on Monday and by Tuesday at 6:00 pm I was still only 7/8 cm and was showing no signs of progress we opted for a c-section.

I will opt for a c-section with future children. My SIL is a medical malpractice attorney and she has told me multiple reasons on why I should not try to have a VBAC.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

DD was breech and I hope to never have another c-section again, only because of the anestesia. I don't do well recovering from it, I never have. If I can go natural next time I don't want the epidural needle anywhere near me, lol!

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I was 9 days late, DS was still high and he was estimated to be a very large baby and the Dr was afraid of his shoulder getting stuck so I had a c-section 8 hours after my water broke.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My first was breech. He was big too (9lbs 7 oz and 3 weeks early) but that was not the reason for c/s.

I was the prefect candidate for VBAC because of the breech c/s the first time. Honestly, the risk of uterine rupture is sooooo low, I hardly gave it a second thought. I had a very successful VBAC and would never opt for a repeat c/s if I didn't need to (IMO of course).

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I didn't progress past 8 cm (I was there for 3 hours) and they were getting nervous that my uterus was getting overworked, being that there were 2 in there. So they called for the c.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I required one because DD was in distress. There was not enough Wharton's Jelly on her umbilical cord, the substance that makes the cord resilient and stand up to contractions, so every time I had a contraction her heart rate would drop because it was getting crushed.

For baby #2 I don't have to go with a C and I haven't made up my mind as to what I would like to do.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had to have one for my first becasuse in the past I had a fistulectomy (as a result of complications from cysts) which, if I delivered vaginally, and if I needed an episiotomy or if the area "ripped", they would have a very hard time (if not impossible time) trying to repair it, leaving me with a lifetime of problems. I am not having anymore children (had my tubes tied after the first), but I would have to have a c-section again if I did.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

Chat Icon #1 was a c-section because of fetal distress. Her heartrate dropped dramatically and after several measures to correct it: they broke my water, put me on pitocin, oxygen, left side, right side; then they gave me a shot to stop the contractions and inserted an amnio-infusor...blah, blah...it was inevitable, I guess.

My doctor chalked it up to "bad luck" really and was supportive of a VBAC, but...

Chat Icon #2 was a scheduled c-section. Not because I wanted one, but because I didn't go into labor on my own (and you can't be induced after having a prior c/s).

Per my OB, any future children will HAVE to be born via section.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

my water broke at 2:00 am on Monday, i was positive Group B strep so i had to go to hospital and got on IV antibiotics, they started me on pitocin sometime before 12noon (maybe 10:30am?), 20 hours after my water broke i was only 5cm dilated, DD had dropped and was getting wedged. doc said i had no choice - she was born at 12:18 am on Tuesday. i didn't even ask if i'll need another csection. i guess i'll ask at my 6 month visit. She was born 2 weeks 1 day early

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

i had a csection bc i've had spinal fusion as well as the fact that i'm a juvenile diabetic and have larger babies. my son was 9 lbs 12 ounces and my csection was 12 days prior to my dd, so thank goodness! for this baby we'll obviously also be scheduled.

I was induced bc I was two weeks late.

I never dilated more than a fingertip after 15 hours of labor.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had and emergency C under general, because when my water broke, so did the umbilical membranes, and baby and I were both bleeding out.

I def. want a C next time, I know what to expect, and I will just be too nervous to wait around for labor next time, if I am blessed with a next time.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had a c-section due to a failed induction.

I was one week past my due date and they scheduled my induction. After 24 hours during the induction, my water broke but I wasn't dilating so I had a c-section.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

DD was a csection because she was in the breech position and did not turn.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had high BP so I had an emergency c-section at 38 weeks, I'm having another c this time, I asked my Dr about a VBAC but he said it would be to dangerous to me and the baby, so another c it is!

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

With DS, I was a week past my due date and my body was not preparing itself for labor anytime soon. He was also large 9lb 6 oz and Dr feared him getting stuck. My epi did not work, so I wound up with general. With DD there were many factors, age, excessive amniotic fluid, and size, she was 10lb 3 oz, I had a spinal

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

After 28 hours of labor I never dialated past 4cm. They also said my pelvis is extremly narrow so she probably wouldn't have fit. Next time it will be a c-section again.

I was a scheduled c because of 2 prior back surgeries. I'll have another c with our next baby.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My first was an emergency c/s. I had to have the classical cut (up & down vs across) since DS was so tiny. For that reason I can never carry to term or attempt a vaginal birth
