Girls that packed your hospital bag
Did you pack two seperate bags? One for L&D and one for once you are in a room? This is what they suggested in lamaze. I am not sure how to do this and what needs to go in the L&D bag besides snacks for DH . I know L&D has a shower but do you really take a shower when you are in L&D? I would think I would want the shower after I deliver and I am settled into my room.
Also, should I put the birth annoucement candy in the L&D bag or the room bag? What about a little gift for the daddy, in the L&D bag or room bag?

Damn, I missed that part in lamaze, I only packed 1 bag .
I guess if you're going to seperate stuff - all you need for L&D is stuff to kill time (i.e. I packed cards and a sudoku book) and some snacks for hubby. You're not going to see other people until you're in the other room, so I would put everything else in that bag.

Re: Girls that packed your hospital bag
I remember my lady saying to pack 2 bags, but I don't remember what she said to put in each one!!!
Oh well, it's not like we're going on vacation, 1 bag is fine....
ETA: I actually have a saved post printed b/c I am packing my bag right now, and it has things to be used during labor: CD player and soothing music Focal point tennis ball Lotion for massage watch hard candy an activity to keep you busy

Re: Girls that packed your hospital bag
Deb, in the first pre-labor room the nurse wanted nothing there, she told DH to put the bag in the car but then in L&D I had my big old bag w/ me but really only needed lip balm, snacks for DH, change for soda for the parents; and that's really it. I also made up 3 little picture frames as my distraction (1 of our HM, 1 of my nieces and 1 of my dog).
Everything else could go in the other bag.
Also, don't forget big shopping bags b/c you'll be getting a ton of gifts (have DH bring these home each night).

One bag was fine for me. All your stuff is with you at all times anyway. My DH brought things back and forth during my stay as well.(4 days after c-section)

My bag didn't come up till I was in post partum. All that was needed in L&D was a cell phone and charger, camera with battery charger and memory stick, hairband and extra socks for after the baby was born.
