Girls who commute into NYC via LIRR-UPDATE
Update: Service on my branch of the LIRR is still suspended until further notice, and I'm not going in! The MTA website is advising against traveling today, and doesn't know when service will be restored. Woohoooo!!!!
Are you going to work tomorrow (Tues)???
I'm playing it by ear....as of right now service is suspended.
My OB said for me not to go into work when there's snow...I'm just not sure if it will be cleared on the streets or not. I work in Soho, I'm afraid of getting out of the subway and into an apocalypse tomorrow.
See, I'd call out EXCEPT for the fact that I haven't been at work in over a week (the office has been closed since Thurs, plus I took last Tues-Wed as vacation days). Our office is open Tues-Wed only this week and doesn't re-open until Jan 4th.
BTW I have to call out and take a sick day on 1/4 to accomodate 2 doctors appointments..
So I'm torn! I would feel horribly guilty calling out tomorrow AND next Tuesday. But at 8 1/2 months pregnant I'm sure my boss and HR would understand.
WWYD?
Thanks girls

You are better safe than sorry. I was watching cityline drive and things seem to be clear in the city but there's still lots of ice.
If you decide to go, proceed with caution.

Re: Girls who commute into NYC via LIRR
Since you are that far along I dont think you should go in and risk slipping or being stuck on a train all day.
I dont want to go in because I still think the service will be horrible tomorrow and what if they stop running again by the PM rush. As of now the 4 major lines now say delayed instead of suspended but I am still not sure if I want to go in.

Can you work from home? I wouldn't go in if I were you. I live in the city and DH went to work today and said Midtown is cleared pretty well but I'm not sure about Soho. UES is HORRIBLE still.

Same here! Figures that when I actually have off, the LIRR shuts down. I remember last year in the snow storms, there was service so I ended up going in.
This year, I have already decided if the weather is bad, I am not risking it. I'd stay home if I were you.

Re: Girls who commute into NYC via LIRR
I would say take it easy but if you need to go the streets don't seem to be so slippery here but that doesn't mean the commute all together would be easy or worth it. I'm in the west village and there is DEF a lot of snow and stuff but most sidewalks seem to be clear. . I mean it's still bad for sure and don't know what the overnight will bring . prob can't hurt to wait one more day. .
