Girls who have had Ectopics please help
So had my IUI on Feb 21st. First blood test showed a slightly positive pg but the RE figured I would get my period in a week since it was so low. Period still isn't here. Did the TV ultrasound today and she doesn't see anything and nothing on the tubes yet so she said lets see what the blood results are before we jump to any conclusions. Sure enough my numbers are still going slightly up. I have to go back Monday again. If it is ectopic, how long can you wait? I really am against having to take the Methotrexate shot. I have MTHFR and have had a lot of issues with folic acid and getting that under control. I don't know what my options are and I am so afraid I will end up losing my fallopian tube.
I don't know what my numbers are, I didn't want to know. This will be my third loss, I gave up obsessing over the numbers.

Re: Girls who have had Ectopics please help
I don't have any experience with ectopics, but I am so sorry you are going through this. If the doctor were concerned that there was any need for urgent action, I'm sure she would have told you. Is there an emergency/on call number that you could try to speak with your doctor about your concerns? Otherwise, I would say that if you start feeling pain, get to the ER right away, just to be on the safe side.

Thank you. I am seeing her again Monday, so I don't want to call. I will take it easy this weekend and head straight to the ER if needed. It's been 5 years. I don't want to seem like I'm quitting but maybe this isn't happening because it's just not meant to be for me.

I'm sorry you are going through this.
I had an ectopic last year. There is no immediate danger to you until it is big enough to be seen on the sono. I *think* your beta has to be 1000 to be able to see anything, so if your beta is still very low, it's ok. Looks like your Dr. is waiting and watching first. If the pregnancy fails on it's own, then no need for the metho. But if the beta continues to rise, the Metho is what will keep it from becoming dangerous. It will dissolve the pregnancy before it develops into something big enough to do damage.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. The dr is watching and seeing what happens. I wouldn't think it would come to sling a tube if you're being watched.

Re: Girls who have had Ectopics please help
i had an ectopic and ended up in emergency surgery and i lost a tube. i was not being monitored by an RE at the time so that was part of the problem. if you are being monitored closely then it shouldn't get that far. i know the methotrexate shot is scary and comes with it's own issues, but if it helps you avoid surgery then i think the pros outweigh the cons. i'm so so sorry you are going through this.

This exactly happened to me.
I took the Methotrexate but it didn't work for me. My OB actually did a D&C first. He never found any pregnancy tissue, which should have been an indication that it was somewhere else.
I feel like if I had been under the care of an RE, I would have been monitored way more closely, so I totally agree with the comment above.
I am SO sorry you are going through this...I know how hard it is.
