???? For those who have had chemicals/and or ectopics...
My beta AGAIN went up from 16 to 19 ...We were hoping that it would be under 10 so that I wouldnt have to bring this disaster w/ me on vacation...Anyway, they are still making me continue to take my PIO and estrogen- WTH ???...I tried to ask the nurse why and she said "well you never know I guess"...What does that mean ?....Is it an ethics/professional reason- Can't stop supporting a pg. until its dimishes on its own ???...I'm so confused right now...I would think taking the PIO would just prolong the inevitable....Also, I asked if there was a better chance of this being ectopic, since the #'s did rise and she said generally w/ ectopics the #'s are usually higher and more erratic - Mine went fom 15-16-19 (ever since 11 DPT) so I hope thats the case (never thought I'd be praying for a BFN before)...Anyway, for those of you who have unfortunately been in my shoes (all my prayers to you), what was your experience, as far as betas and RE protocol to handle these situations....Thanks

Re: ???? For those who have had chemicals/and or ectopics...
I think the trouble is, its not dropping. My only concern is that it would be ectopic and they're sustaining a pregnancy that could potentially harm you. But, unfortunately, I'd wait it out again, just to be sure.
For your sake, I hope it catches up or drops soon.

Re: ???? For those who have had chemicals/and or ectopics...
I have had 2 ectopics, both of which were conceived naturally. The first was caught on a sonogram and was sizeable so I had a laparoscopy the following day to remove it as there was an immediate danger of it rupturing.
Because of that, the next time I got a positive HPT, I was considered high risk for ectopic and they monitored my numbers every other day. They were looking at HCG (I don't know how that compares to betas) but basically, the numbers were not doubling and were very erratic. They were going up but not by much and my progesterone was very low. After they determined it was an ectopic (via sonogram) I had a shot of methotrexate and my numbers started moving down. However, after a few days the numbers started moving up which was a bad sign. After another shot of metho the numbers went down almost to zero at which point my tube ruptured.
Based on this history, and the HSG, I just had both tubes removed as Dr. Brenner would not attempt IVF on me until I did so.
Having gone through a ruptured tube and nearly dying because I didn't realize it was ruptured, I would want very early confirmation if it was an ectopic and I would want to be monitored very regularly. My numbers were rising. FM me if you want to talk. I know how devastating it is.
ETA: Whatever number they were monitoring for me (this was my OB/GYN) was much much higher than yours, so I don't really know what the protocol is based just on the numbers.

The chances this is a normal pregnancy are slim to none(which you seem to realize) Ask your Dr if you can get methotrexate. Good luck

Methotrexate is more for ectopics right ?....At this point they are still leaning towards it being a chemical (and thats what we are hoping for ) so I don't think they would give that to me- And from what I've read about that drug, it will really delay me starting a new cycle for a very long time so Im hoping it doesnt come to that, and that it will go down on its own.....

Re: ???? For those who have had chemicals/and or ectopics...
Be aware of any symptoms of ectopic....eg. pain on one side. I guess they are waiting to see if AF arrives.
My OBGYN thought I had a Chemical but my beta was going up and down and it ended up being a non tubal ectopic pregnancy.
I am so sorry you are going through this!
