girls who work out
How often do you go to the gym each week??
I have been working out sporadically to say the least since my BFP (in May ), but because of where I live I do do a lot of walking so it's not like I am totally inactive.
The past two weeks I have made a commitment to regain my schedule-- but, before getting prego, I would *try* to work out like 5 or 6 times a week. If I got there only 4, that was ok too.
I just want to know how often I should really try to go-- and not feel guilty when I only do 3 times a week.

Re: girls who work out
I've been a slacker. By the time I get home from work and cook dinner, its like 8. I feel bad that I've only been going 2 days a week.

Well, most people just told me I looked great-- but all the questions were annoying, but understandable. I did not like the "eye drop" down to the belly though. I said hello to some people, and then they came back later saying they didn't know I was pregnant-- so, I know I still don't look pregnant when someone doesn't know.
The ONLY person who thought about invading my personal space was my stepfather, who SHOULD know me better! He asked if he could touch my belly, which come on now-- is not much of a belly. I said no, would you touch my belly normally?? He said no- so there you have it. Because I felt like I was being a b!tch, I said when it's bigger you can touch it-- but, I do not have a prego belly and for my step dad to caress my stomach IMO is a little inappropriate. Plus, he annoys me!!
I relayed this to my mom-- and she said, well it's not normal that you are pregnant, therefore someone touching my belly should be "ok"-- SHE of all people should understand that I don't want people touching me! I don't give a sh!t who it is. It makes me really uncomfortable.

here here
i feel the exact same way. i've gotten to the point where i avoid making eye contact with people because to them it's like i have no face anymore it's just a belly and a pair of legs (and a$$ and thighs!) it annoys the living crap out of me, i don't know why! oh and the belly rubbing - don't feel bad, i think we all feel awkward about telling people to back off...i know pre pregnancy i never in my life would have imagined that people touching me would irk me as much as it does, but there you have it!
i've got a new peeve this week - the "how are you feeling?" question from everyone and their mother. i swear it's not what's up? how's life? what's new? it's "how are you feeling?" (staring at my belly) ummmmm fine? normal? same as the last 27 weeks? be ready for that one...it gets annoying

Re: girls who work out
I was a 3/week girl pre-PG, and now, I am lucky to make it 1-2 times a week. I teach, and honestly, I am TIRED by the end of the day. I try to go once on the weekend, once during the week, but it's been hard. I figure a little is better than nothing at all.

Re: girls who work out
I've really been too tired to be doing much of anything...I'm hoping as I enter my 2nd tri it will get easier to go. I'm hoping to get on a schedule of 3-4 times/week and yoga.

Re: girls who work out
I was going 4-5 days a week. I still go 4-5 days a week but I'm not doing as intense of a work out that I was doing. I took it down a notch. I make sure I don't get overheated and my heart rate doesn't go too high. I am really only doing cardio. I just started my second trimester so I will be starting with my Personal trainer again next week. We will do light weights together.

Re: girls who work out
At 31wks3d I'm still able to workout 5d/wk I workout for about an hour each day BUT have cut back on my intensity.
I walk 2d/wk on an 4% incline (but I cut back to 3.0pace because it hurts my pelvic bone), Elliptical 1d/wk & Weights 2-3d/wk. I cut back alot on my weights and only lift 3-5lb dumbbells.
Hopefully I can keep at it until I deliver.
Oh and I just walked the Breast Cancer walk this past Sunday in Boston (I'm from Boston)...so I felt like that was a HUGE accomplishment for me that I thought I'd share

Re: girls who work out
I have been so tired in my first trimster.. I am constantly walking, probably every other day... but I need to get back into my workout... I want to lift weights to keep my arms and legs in shape.. thinking about getting a personal trainer... am I crazy? I just want to keep my weight gain in check since I am not a small girl to begin with!! Ive lost 45 lbs in the past 2 years and I am freaking out about gaining too much... anyone else have a trainer?

Re: girls who work out
still in my first tri so I'm trying to take it easy, which is hard b/c b4 I worked out about 5 days a week. Last weekend after the gym I had a scare with bleeding, but it turned out it was b/c we had sex the night b4 then went to my cardio kickboxing class the next day. Since then the Doc told me to hold off on both activities for a week... I'll do some walking and running on my treadmill at home and eventually go back to class.
We should all meet and do a prego walk if anyone is interested...

Sorry I didn't mean to make anyone feel like a slacker
I don't think you're slacking at all. It just works out better for me to get to the gym (also, I didn't mention that it's right here in my work). Other then that I wouldn't be going to the gym.

Re: girls who work out
Until I was 9 wks pregnant, I was working out 6 days per week. The past 2 weeks, fatigue has caught up to me so I've been not doing much of anything. I plan on starting again tomorrow.

Re: girls who work out
I was just joking...
I want to come up with some weekly goals-- it's better for me that way.
I think if I can get to the actual gym 4 to 5 times a week-- that's great. There I do cardio and weights.
Other days, I can go downstairs in my building and just do some cardio.
My new goal is to do some form of a work out 5 days a week!
