Gloves and masks
Where have you been able to buy?
When I went grocery shopping I had a scarf and kitchen gloves as that’s all I had.
It seems everything online is scams. I don’t need an n 95 to take from medical workers but need something for a grocery store visit. I like that idea on other post of stores requiring it, but where can you get them?

Re: Gloves and masks
My daughter made me some masks I'm just waiting to get them. She shipped them yesterday. I also found a newsstand (Im in NYC) that was selling these for $2 each.
As for gloves my daughter also sent me some about 3 weeks ago with wipes and hand sanitizer since I couldn't find any here.
Good Luck its not going to be easy finding anything. Your best bet is to use a bandana or order handmade ones from etsy.

Gloves and masks
I ordered some cloth ones from etsy. But thry haven’t arrived yet so I made one out of a cloth napkin and hair elastics for my DH to wear when he goes to the store.

I would just make a face covering from shirts, etc. you already have at home. The homemade masks are just layers of fabric (I did mine 3 layers). Use some hair ties as elastic, and you should be good.

Re: Gloves and masks
My husband is a big fisherman, and I have been using his buffs around my face. I dont wear gloves, I only use them if I am pumping gas.

For gas, another alternative is to use a plastic grocery bag around your hand if you run out of gloves.

Or just hand sanitize right after you pump and then wash as soon as you get home. I always do that anyway because gas pumps are disgusting

Yes! Me too, BUT, I rarely pump my own gas since there is a full serve right near me that is full serve only and the same price

I just want to know where people are getting bandanas. They are like- oh you can just make them out of stuff you have at home- no need to go out! Go grab your stash of bandanas. Who has bandanas? For what use?

I actually have about 15 of them in every color. HA! I used to wear them sometimes as a headband when I was younger; who knew they'd come in handy. My dad had a few too that I probably took from him.

My husband made one out of a handkerchief and hair ties. He has several handkerchiefs that he wears as pocket squares in his suits.
Not sure who has lots of bandanas laying around. Lol!

I happened to have ONE that was part of a Halloween costume from a few years ago - otherwise I wouldn't have any either

Re: Gloves and masks
I don’t have any bandanas either...or old t-shirts.
We found masks & gloves at an independent pharmacy. You won’t find them at a CVS or Walgreens. I’m in Queens though.

Order bandanas now! I ordered three and they came in a few days.
I used a buff for my other mask. I have hair ties, so no problems with that.

What is a buff? I saw someone mention it on the other thread and now here. I have never heard of a buff.

Re: Gloves and masks
Interesting article about gloves
The novel coronavirus doesn’t enter the body through your hands, so you don’t need any kind of barrier there. If you touch a contaminated surface with gloves, and touch something else, you’re as likely to spread it as you are if you touch things with your bare hands. Maybe even more likely: “The adhesive properties of viruses differ among viruses; it’s possible the coronavirus could adhere to the latex gloves better than it could adhere to your own skin,” says Reynolds. And hands can be effectively washed and used again right away.

Yeah and store workers wearing the same pair all day and touching everyone's money, etc. I guarantee they aren't washing their gloves. Then touching all your stuff. I've worn the gloves twice, threw them out coming out of the store. Everyone in my community group is shaming people without gloves though. Especially the store workers. Everyday it's people complaining about which workers have gloves on.

Had to run to the store today for the first time in a while. I saw one of these "experts" shaking his head at the people who weren't wearing masks and gloves. He was eating donuts. Holding one in his gloved hand while pulling his mask down. He looked like a complete imbecile.
