GMC Acadia Moms - What are the Cons?

We need to get a new car in October. I would like to decide in teh next few months so when October comes, we can just look for the best deal. I was all set to become a Minivan Mommy and now DH is swaying....For those of you that have the Acadia, what are the cons? I only hear the raves.

My dad had T&Cs my whole childhood! I love them. He actually sold his last one to my FIL. When my FIL passed away it became ours until DH was transporting a lawn mover and gasoline spilled all over the back. We could never get the smell out and we had no need for 3 cars so we sold it.

I don't own an Acadia but it was the other top contender when we got our last car. I loved everything about it except how truck-like it felt. I felt like I couldn't see over the hood, and I am pretty tall. I'm sure I could've gotten used to it though!

you do the the acadia is an SUV...not sure if you are trying to compare acadia to a minivan...acadia does come with bucket seats as an option for the second row and offers third row seating. i plan on the acadia being the next family car but my current ford edge is working just fine. we brought right before the acadia came out

I drove an Acadia for awhile before I got my Enclave (also very similar). There wasn't much I could complain about overall. I loved how easy it was to flip the second row seat and I could actually stand outside the car and reach the 3rd row to buckle the carseat. I do love the 2nd row captain's chairs since I had 2 car seats in them, and need the middle row empty to access the 3rd row.

I found that the blind spots were a lot bigger than I was used to, but that just takes getting used to. And the pillar on the drivers side between the windshield and front window was large and on left turns I always felt like I had to crane my next to get a better view because it blocked my view.

Gas mileage is average for the type of CUV it is... Incentives aren't that good.

Mine had a strange transmission issue that made it go forward in reverse how's that for a negative???? It's not great on gas and can be a bit sluggish with pickup. BUT with all that said I wouldn't trade it for another truck. It functions like a minivan(seatwise) & the safety rating is excellent. I got it fully loaded and love the backup camera/nav and tv for the kids. I have the 2nd row captains chairs so we can fully access the 3rd row by the middle aisle. we were just shopping this weekend/week. We looked at the acadia, outlook (2008), enclave, traverse. My favorite of those were the acadia and the enclave. Bucket seats in the 2nd row, bench 3rd row.

The enclave was more expensive than the acadia.

We didn't buy any of them . The gas mileage isn't great, and it's too much car for us right now. After baby #2, we'll likely move towards something like that.

We ended up with a Chrysler Pacifica. Less money, better on gas, not as large, but still has 3rd row seating and bucket seats in the 2nd row. We really like it!

When we were looking DH felt like the trunk (or whatever you want to call it) was smaller than a minivan, which he refused to budge on.

Love the acadia. I did get the 7 seater.
The only thing that I am not used to is the trunk. It is a little small compared to others.

This is our top contender when our lease is up next January. We have a Ford Edge now and with planning on TTC in June I know we are going to need something bigger. I am just not sure if I want to leave the Ford Family. But I do love the Acadia so I am interested to see what other moms are saying about it. We would plan on getting the 7 seater.

We rented the Acadia in February while we were in Disney. Like a PP said, the blind spots are a little bigger than I'm used to (I have a Toyota Highlander). Although I'm short I had no problem seeing over the hood once I adjusted the seat. All our luggage fit once we flipped the third row seat down. I am not a fan of American vehicles but I really liked it and would consider buying one for my next vehicle. I believe the Chevy Traverse is the sister vehicle to the Acadia.

We looked at the Acadia last year when we were car shopping. We didn't like how small the trunk was when the third row is being used. Other than that, we really liked it. We ended up with a minivan (Honda Odyssey.)
