God help me.. ear infection (long, some TMI, looking for help)
I'm exhausted
All of a sudden out of the clear blue sky AJ got a fever on Saturday. Gave her tylenol and it went down so we figured it was just a hold over from the cold she had last week.
Saturday night around midnight she wakes up SCREAMING at the top of her tiny lungs. Nothing will calm her, nothing will soothe her, she's changed, she's fed, she's held. Nothing.. the screaming goes on and on and on for an hour! Tylenol was given earlier but nothing's working.
I call up the Pediatricans and ask for a doctor. She asked about the cold she got over and said it could be an ear infection but really other than tylenol there's nothing we can do.
Murphy's law, by the time the doc had called us back (2mins maybe?) AJ had stopped crying from pure exhaustion and was falling asleep.
330am. Wakes up screaming again, so we feed her, change her and gave her tylenol (it had been over 6hours). Hubby takes this bout and I got her to sleep last time. Screaming and Screaming and SCREAMING it won't stop and its miracle she has a voice. She's screaming so loud she's vomiting mucus. Its just so sad.
5:45am. Still awake and still screaming. I take over cause I got no sleep with her crying anyway.. I felt so bad there was nothing we could do. I got her to sleep on me with the help of the ottoman.
9am. She's awake again but normal, no screaming and acts like she's a totally different child I took her temp caused she was a little warm 100.2
I made an appt with the Pedi and got her in at 11am
Definately some 'cloudy' fluid on one year and also some fluid in the other. We have antibotics now. Temp was 99.6
Please help me..
#1 Will Daycare let her stay tomorrow with her fever? 99.6-100.2 #2 How often DO I take her temp? #3 Anything else I can do for her besides Tylenol and Antibotics?
Otherwise.. I could just use some hugs for AJ and me/hubby.
ETA: Sunday 5:20 Temp 100.3

She prob shouldn't go to daycare until she has been on antibiotics for 24hrs.
My son has only had 1 ear infection, and it was recently... It was a nightmare, he was in so much pain. My Dr prescribed some kinda of "numbing" drops... I only used it at night, and only the 1st 2 nights... it was a lifesaver... (I used that and some tylenol)
I would take her temp, whenever she feels warm to you... you def. want to control it.

Ear infections aren't contagious but if she is still crying a lot I would keep her home.

have you ever noticed that when they cry like that it goes straight to your heart and you feel like you've been struck and burned and all your nerves are on fire.. you just want to make them feel better so much you'd be willing to pull your soul from your very body and willingly hand it over if it just took away their pain?
Just thinking of it makes my own ears ache in near tears

Oh boy, do I know that feeling. That's the feeling of being a mom I know how horrible it is to have a baby with an ear infection. I hope she's feeling better soon!

1 - sounds like a low grade fever but daycare will want her out if it's over 100 (usually)
2 - I don't know the correct answer...I usually take DS's temp when he feels warm to the touch or when curiosity sets in.
3 - I used to tilt the crib mattress a bit...put towels underneath to prop up one side and have her head placed there. Put a rolled up receiving blanket under her feet to help prevent her from sliding. Run the cool mist humidifier for her. I tend to hold my son more when he's sick...keeps him upright an the cuddles help too.
I hope that she feels better soon.
