God help me. My mother is a nut.
The car is packed...me and Josh are leaving for NY tomorrow morning.
One of my friends called my mother's house to see when I would be arriving because she hasn't met Josh yet and heard I was coming.
My mother tells her, well, you can come here, but Josh only comes to NY to see his grandparents, so he won't be going anywhere without us.
Then my cousin calls me before, she says she told my mother that her house is open on saturday for a bbq and the pool...my mother says thanks, but probably not.
She wants us to be home for when my father gets home from work.
I am paying a big price for not giving them set dates as to when I will be up there. My father wasn't able to get the days off of work.
She called to tell me what fun it would be if on sunday morning, Josh and I were on the 6:30 ferry so my father could see josh on the boat since he is working all day.
I am a dead beat friend in NY. I don't even make plans anymore. My mother doesn't care if I go out, but all my friends don't want to see me they want to see him but she holds him prisoner.
just a vent. I am lucky to have a mother who loves him...she just drives me crazy.

Mine too...they are in Europe and keep emailing me to get new pictures
Does your dad work on the ferry? I love that ferry, I took it when I lived in Rossville.

I know how you feel. I feel sometimes that if my mom could, she would move him in and tell people, "oh, yeah, he has a mom too..."

You are not alone-we used to keep plans open when we visited NY, now I call everyone we want to see and make sure we setup a schedule and I tell my mom ahead of time so she knows. Of course, I give her first choice and she is welcome to join us for most activities as a lot of them are just hanging out, BBQ type things.
Our trips are no longer spontaneous but at least we get to see everyone we want to see. Good luck!
