Going back to work/schedule advice
It makes me want to vomit thinking about it..but Feb 11th (day I go back to work) is flashing in my head and I have to plan. My DD...although 6 weeks now has really made her own schedule...but it will not work with my work schedule and Im not sure what to do. She will be doing tutor time 2 days a week, and my mom is coming here for 3 days a week. My mom being here causes no problem to her schedule..obviously...but its those other 2 days that are thowing me for a loop. Here is her current schedule...and shes like clockwork:
8:30-9pm: 6oz formula 5am- 5oz formula goes back down until 10am!
then the daytime feedings Im not worried about...but heres the issue. I go to work at 6am. I could feed her and then hope she falls asleep in her carseat, but then shes not going to sleep until 10am at the daycare in her carseat. I dont want to mess with her sleeping because she is one cranky lady when she dosent get it. Do you think I should push up her nighttime feeding? Will she eventually loose that 5am wakeup feeding? Again, all this modification for 2 days I know some people think that 6 weeks is too early for creating a schedule..but she made it...and unfortunatly we have to make some changes because of work. Sorry so long...this consumes me

Re: Going back to work/schedule advice
She will eventually lose that 5am feeding. My DS used to do 10-5 then go back down until 9. But by the time I went back to work at 12 weeks he was sleeping 9-7 and staying up until 10ish.
Is there anyway your DH can drop her off at daycare? Also what days is she going to day care, are they consecutive?
I dont have too much advice but know that in the next 4 weeks she can change everything all on her own (I have learned that once I get used to a phase or schedule, DS throws a new curveball in there to keep me on my toes) and babies adjust. When I went back to work DS went from taking 4 hours worht of naps to almost NOTHING at my ILs, it took a few weeks but he adjusted.
I think I would try to move up her bedtime by 30 minutes first and see how she reacts. But I think overall she is going to have to adjust to a new schedule with daycare, she might not get as much sleep but she also might not be as cranky as you think with the new atmosphere to keep her entertained.

Re: Going back to work/schedule advice
Have you tried to do a dream feed? When I went back to work I started doing a dream feed before I went to bed around 10:30-11pm. She was waking at 4am for a feeding, but once I started doing the dreamfeed, she started making it till 7am or so, which was a big help with my work schedule.
Good luck!

May be a silly question...How do you do that?

Pretty much I would just pick her up out of her crib, sit in her room with the lights still off (she has a nightlight) and nurse her (or later give her a bottle). She really wouldn't even wake up or take a full feeding. After about 2-3ozs. I would just put her back in her crib still pretty much sound asleep. Worked like a charm!

No, although I will admit a lot of times she didn't even burp, she was just too fast asleep. It didn't seem to bother her, so I went with it.

Re: Going back to work/schedule advice
With a young baby, 3-4 weeks time is like a whole new lifetime!! Things may be SO different by then! I would just play it by ear until the week b/4 to see what she is doing then. I know my DD changed so much in those first few weeks!
