Going out for work birthday lunches
What would you do if every year no one at work takes you out to lunch for your bday but when certain other people's bdays come around you are asked to go (and contribute $)? Do you think this is fair? Would you go or make an excuse? I am the only person in my department but I do work with everyone here and have plenty of people I'm friendly with. Its weird. On one hand I feel like why should I go when no one takes me out? On the other hand I think maybe I should just suck it up and go....be the better person.

Re: Going out for work birthday lunches
Depends. I wouldn't go if it was for someone i didn't like. But if i liked the person then i'd go, regardless of what has been done for me.
Don't think of it as a tit for tat, think of it as would you like to take this person out for their birthday?
there's nothing wrong with declining every once in a while
