No. I don't. I don't think birthdays are all that great of a deal to begin with.

I wouldn't use your birthday as an excuse...but if you need a day off to do something you enjoy - do it when you feel like it...not only when it's your bday!

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

No, but if my b-day was tomorrow I might consider it because it is going to be around 80 degrees. I would take an early trip to the beach.

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

Always.

The weather is usually lovely, and I enjoy taking a day completely for myself.

Roll your eyes and "um, no..." all you want, I have the day off! Chat Icon

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

I don't work on my birthday. I did one year and I was miserable.

Sleeping late and not getting woken up by an alarm is my gift to myself.

LOL. I am five years old then!

Yes, I always take off for my birthday. I do not want to deal with commuting, my coworkers, or wearing uncomfortable pants on my birthday.

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

I have never worked on my birthday and I never will. I also plan to never work on my anniversary.

Why not? Why not have an awesome birthday and a whole day for myself?

My parents taught me the whole never working on your anniversary thing and neither of them ever have and they have been married OVER 40 years. Chat Icon

AND if my birthday is on a Thursday I will take the Friday off too!Chat Icon

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

Never.

If I really hated my job maybe I'd take off, but I actually love celebrating during the day with my work friends (we always go out to lunch, have cake, etc.) and then celebrating at night with DH! we always do something special on the weekend to celebrate too.

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

I actually have more fun going to work on my birthday because if it's a week day, nobody is usually home to celebrate with me all day.

So at least at work I can be around friends and we celebrate with a lunch or a happy hour.
Then I go home and celebrate with the hubby and/or family!

Re: Do you take off work on your Birthday?

No way... my office has huge celebrations for birthdays. If I took off i'd just be sitting at home while everyone else is at work anyway!
