Re: Going out to dinner when infants grow out of infant carrier
Until the minute the food comes, we hold DD and entertain her. So that way when the food comes we have time to eat it before she gets bored and restless. That buys us AT LEAST 3 minutes to eat

First, we went early, like before 5:00.
We also took this fisher price booster seat with us. It's fantastic. We even took it to the beach a few times and put it on the blanket.
Here are some pics I found online. The toy tray comes off, and you can use the regular tray for food. The bottom is adjustable and the seat can be used as booster seat when they are older.

what are you using at home? those chairs in the restaurants are not as big and I imagine, evenloping as a standard high chair. they probably just need to get used to it.
don't give up! I give you such props for trying it with twins. I would DIE!
and just so you know, they all have good and bad days. it's hit or miss with Luce and we always have him out. sometimes they are just bored.
ETA: the seat erin post is what we have now at home for Luce. it's great!! we don't use the tray at home and just put it right up to the table so he eats like everyone else and it's a sinch to use and travels so well!! ours is plain, no toys, and it was like $20 on sale at BRU. highly recommend.
oh and also, try to face them toward the action-servers, other patrons, rather than towards you guys or each other (while still facing the table that is ) Luce is so much better behaved when he can be NOSY!

I highly recommend getting one of these high chairs...it is my most favorite and most useful peice of baby gear. Its great for when you are at other peoples homes, restaurants, etc....FANTASTIC. My DD loves it becuase they sit right up against the table since sometimes those restaurant high chairs can be awkward for the babies to sit in. My DD is 6 months and loves this chair!

I have this too and it's what I used when we first started going out to restaurants. (now I'm just to lazy to bring it )

these are also great but way more $$ that the boosters. we have this one upstate and he really loves it too, but cost wise and at their age, I'd just get the boosters.

Totally agree! We try to face Tyler towards everyone so he can look, he loves staring at the people walking by and serving. We try to go when its busy so that he is more entertained. I give him a menu to play with, some snacks throw him some of my food. Usually by the time we are ALMOST finished he gets restless, so then we take him out.
DH is so scared to go out to dinner with him, so we barely ever go, but that is what we do.
