going to aruba with toddler, any tips?
My daughter is 16 months old and we're going to Aruba in two weeks. Does anyone have an tips? I'm not plannng on bringing a car seat, is that a bad idea? we didn't buy her a plane seat, will we be okay? The hotel will have a crip in the room so I only have to bring sheets. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!! I've never travelled with her on a plane before.

Bring LOTS of sunscreen - it never feels that hot there, because of the tradewinds, but that sun is strong!

We took DD to Aruba and had a great time. How are you getting to the hotel? You might want to bring a carseat for the cab ride, esp if you are either renting a car or going to go touring.
If not, then I would bring my own sheets, lots and lots of sunscreen, big t-shirts to put over her bathing suit to protect her from the sun, sun hats. Also you might want to buy some sand toys and bring them with you since they are expensive at the hotel. I always forget and then regret it when I get there.
Where are you staying?

We're staying at the Marriot surf club. It's a time share. THanks for the tips...very helpful. How do you bring a car seat, check it as luggage?

It's nice there. It was being redone when we were there though. We bought DD her own seat so we brought it on the plane but you can check it with your luggage. I see alot of people do that.

Re: going to aruba with toddler, any tips?
Personally I wouldn't travel without a carseat for safety reasons (air and car). Also chances are you will get an extra seat, we travel alot and we always did, even when we had 2 under 2. Then you can strap the baby in to their own seat. Also I would probably bring a life vest with me for the baby. You might think I am crazy but after last weeks events you just never know.
Definitely bring whatever you need for baby, snacks, etc... everything is so expensive there. Also some water floats, toys, etc... It was literally $20 for a pail and shovel!
ETA: Sunscreen and I wouldnt buy the spray kind, definitely cream... the sun is really strong and with the winds you dont usually feel it.

I never went with a toddler, but when we did go we saw many families at Baby Beach. It is at the other end of the island but totally worth the trip. The water is very shalow and warm. Kids would love it.

Re: going to aruba with toddler, any tips?
we went when ds was 8 months (last year) and had the best time! lots of sunscreen, sun protective clothing, netting for the stroller and bug spray b/c there are mosquitoes at night. i rented a pack and play at my hotel for the beach for $10 a day which rocked! you will need slong sleeved shirts and pants at night for you dc. obviously some pool swimmy device (which is easy to pack or can be bought there.) we went to a "grocery store" there b/c we were running low on items and they were expensive and we had to cab it there. i can't thinkof anything else but if you have specific questions feel free to fm me.

Re: going to aruba with toddler, any tips?
Def buy the strongest sunscreen you can get!!! My sister lives there and rarely takes my niece out and if she does, she had to get the strongest stuff possible.
Also bug spray.
I wouldn't worry about the carseat. The cabs have them if you ask and even my sister's tour company now carries them.
Have a great time
