Going to Lancaster this weekend - need ideas for 1 day
We're planning on leaving mid morning Friday to go to Lancaster. (kids are 5 and 7)
We are staying at the Doubletree Lancaster for Friday night and Saturday night.
My plan is either: Friday - arrive in the afternoon go to Dutch Wonderland's preview then dinner Sat - Dutch Wonderland Sun - something something go home
or Friday - arrive in the afternoon, hang at the hotel pool (kids like the water) Saturday - something something, go to Dutch Wonderland preview Sunday - Dutch Wonderland then go home
What do you think? Should my 'something something" be "https://www.lancasterminihorses.com/" ? What else can be done on that day?
My only concern is going to DW on Sunday then having a long drive home will be rough. Plus the kids will want to go to the water park - driving home all wet is not fun either. But the horse farm is closed sunday :(
Thank you

CherryCrest Farms - hands down. I almost think it’s better than Dutch.
Not sure if they’re open Sundays. If not, just go to Dutch on Sunday and bring a change of clothes for the kids and you. You can change into dry clothes before you leave.

Agree with cherry crest, though they’re closed on Sunday. Most things in Lancaster are closed on Sundays. Turkey Hill is open but that’s not an all day event. I know the drive will stink but you will be left with nothing to do on Sunday if you do DW on Saturday.

How about the Strasburg Railroad on Sunday? That should be a relaxing activity before driving home. You have to reserve tickets online in advance.

Not sure how close this is to where you are going, but indian echo caverns is a really cool toured experience. Bring sweatshirts, cold down in the cave.

Re: Going to Lancaster this weekend - need ideas for 1 day
I would do Plan A. I would hate driving home to LI directly after a theme park in PA.
How long does the "something something" on Sunday have to take? There is a place called Oregon Dairy that has a restaurant, delicious ice cream with an outdoor seating area, farm animals, a playground, and at the time a big trampoline - all free except for food of course. That was a few years ago so not sure how much of that is operational anymore but I think we were there on a Sunday. It was a nice way to kill about an hour not including a meal and we could have stayed longer. I would check that out. There is also the outlets - I think they are open Sunday. You could also maybe do Chocolate world at Hershey.
