Going to the ENT tomorrow. Any "must ask" questions from BTDT Moms?
Hi -
We have our first appt with an ENT tomorrow bc of DD's constant ear infections.
Do you have any tips on special questions I should ask?
TIA!

be prepared that they will probably rec'd tubes. I went in knowing that is what would be suggested and decided against it. Jason had no earing lose and I decided to wait one more winter. He has not had any since last winter.
Ask WHY they are suggesting the tubes. What if you decide against it? Does your baby have earing lose should be known.

Personally, I went in wanting DS to get ear tubes. He had 6 ear infections over a 4 month span at one point. No antibiotics were working for him and it was a nightmare.
My question was more along the lines of "How soon can we get this done?"
The surgery took all of 5 minutes and DS came out of anesthesia with NO problems at all. The ENT that we use is out of Huntington Hospital, and the anesthesiologist did a "twilight" type so that he was not OUT-out, just in a sleepy state.
GL! Edited to add: DS ear tubes fell out a year later and within 2 weeks he had ANOTHER double ear infection. We ended up getting them re-done. He has never had an ear infection with the tubes in.
