Gonal? Menopur? Bravelle?

are these pretty much all the same thing? just different names? I've only ever used the Gonal, but a friend of mine used the Bravelle. does each one do something different?

Hi, gonal and follistim are similar. They usually are mixed already. Bravelle is similar to them, but you have to mix it. Menopur is sometimes used in conjunction with gonal, bravelle, or follistim. I think bravelle is a little cheaper because u have to mix it. People have been successful with all of those meds. I had advanced maternal age and my re said he had to give me less menopur because of that. Menopur must also be mixed.

when you say you have to mix it, like the liquid comes in a jar and you have to insert the medicine yourself into the pen to inject it?

For the menopur, u will get 2 vials. 1 vial will be powder and the other vial will be the Diluent which is the liquid. U can't mix it ahead and u must use the menopur within 15 minutes after mixing it. U use a large needle to draw the liquid. After, u put the diluent which is liquid into the powder, u will change to a much smaller needle to inject, usually subcutaneously. Sometimes menopur is taken intramuscularly. At first, it takes a while to do. Then, it becomes second nature. I am not sure about bravelle. I had a friend who ran out of coverage for gonal f and follistim and she was given bravelle. She got pregnant using menopur and bravelle. She had GHI insurance and ran out of 3 times of covered follistim or gonal. After, GHI covered the bravelle. Repronex is another name for menopur also.
