good chinese retaurants?
are there any on LI? not a buffet either. One with authentic chinese food and maybe a dim sum menu..

Tangs in Lindenhurst is very good. I don't know if they have Dim Sum on the menu there is one too in Sayville that is Chinese and Japanese and I know my friends like a lot but I can't remember the name.

Morgo Dynasty in Plainview has a few dim sum choices and authentic food.
Not a buffet though.

The best ones I know of are
The Orient in Bethpage...amazing food and every time we go there we see Asian people eating there. Excellent sign IMO.
The Orchid in Garden City has always been really good, but I haven't been there in a few years.

ITA! if you want authentic (like chinatown good) chinese food then you HAVE to go to Fortune Wheel!!! they serve dim sum on weekends where they go around with the karts and trays. but its always packed on weekends so call ahead and get a reservation #.

Fortune Wheel was authentic but grossed me out. It was dirty looking and smelled of fish throughout. Food was good but I would never go back there.
I am a big fan of Orchid in GC and go there often.

There is another place in Plainview that we LOVE - they have a huge vegetarian menu - its Hunan Cottage - you would never find it unless you were looking for it - but we go there all the time because my stepdaughters live in plainview... they have the best vegetarian sesame chicken - we once sent it back because we all thought they sent us real chicken - even my carnivore stepdaughters (who are really picky) couldnt tell if it was real or not!!!!
The food is very fresh and the waiters are really nice there...
Also - its REALLY cheap - another plus for us!!!

We have been going there as a family for the last 30 years as well. We have had the same waiter Edmund since I was a kid. They make the best AUTHENTIC Chinese food!! I have yet to find a restaurant in my area thet comes even close!!

Imperial Wok on Hicksville....Yum...
When I had a Chinese professor in college and he was going around the room asking where everyone was from, I told him Hicksville (where I lived at the time) and he said...oohhh...Imperial Wok, great food, very authentic!
