Good Sam Question..
Someone told my friend that if you do not go for lamaze classes and you end up having a c-section that Good Sam does not allow your husband in the delivery room...
and that if you are not married your partner can not be in the delivery room ....at Good Sam.
Does any one know if this is true?

There is a c-section class (seperate from the lamaze class) that you are supposed to attend. It's 2 hours total, and they offer it a couple of times a week. Our lamaze teacher pretty much said to just say you left the certificate at home if you find yourself needing a c section. I'm not sure how strictly they enforce it - but if you have 2 hours, it might be better to be safe than sorry.
As for the partner thing - it is a Catholic hospital, so I could see them saying something, but how would they really know? So many women nowadays don't take their husband's last name.

Re: Good Sam Question..
I really don't think they are strict about it. I know someone who needed an emergency csection and the husband said, "we forgot our certificate at home." and the nurse said, "did you honestly think we wouldn't let you in?" Also I've never heard anything about not letting your partner in if you're not married. What are they going to ask for a marriage license? My mom and DH is coming in the delivery room with me, and I'm delivering there.

Re: Good Sam Question..
My friend delivered at Good Sam over the summer and needed an emergency c-section. They never took lamaze or the c-section class. She said no one asked either of them for a certificate. I dont think they would stop your DH. With everything going on, I dont see them asking if you are married or not, especially since you are allowed 2 people in L & D.

Re: Good Sam Question..
I had an emergency c-section at Southside 6 1/2 years ago and was told if my husband did not have proof that he took Lamaze he could not come in the OR and I was told at the time it was the same at Good Sam. Don't know first hand though.
