Good Sam WI Questions - For those who have delivered there.
Was hoping some of you who have previously delivered there would have some input. I'm not scheduled to go to the class there and get the hospital tour for another two weeks and I'm getting anxious. What was your experience like? How many people can be in the room? What are visitations like? Do they take the baby away or let you bond? When were you able to first try to breastfeed?
I could go on....anything to look out for? TIA!

Re: Good Sam WI Questions - For those who have delivered there.
I delivered both DC there and had no problems. If I were to have another DC I would without doubt deliver there again. The rooms are small but it is a hospital so dont expect too much. They cleaned the bathrooms a few times throughout the day. There are 2 beds 1 bathroom per room. The nurses were FANTASTIC. The food was even decent. If I remember correctly the general visiting hours are 10AM-12 and then 6-8 or something along those lines. They have special sibling time and grandparent times as well. Your spouse can stay with you all day but cant stay the night. You can keep the baby in room the entire time if you choose. You can FM me if you have any other questions. Really dont stress over it. I know I did and in the end all that matters is that you and your DC are good and healthy.

Re: Good Sam WI Questions - For those who have delivered there.
GS does not follow their own rules when it comes to visitors..Its basically a free for all in your room and it sucks! Next time my baby will stay in the nusery and everyone can wave to him/her from the window! I think from 1-2 is suppose to be quite hour no such thing they didn't kick anyone out..visiting hours started at 10am and they didn't kick people out until 8pm. Your hospital stay goes very fast though.

Thanks for the info!
If there are two women in the room - they will allow both babies to sleep in the room with us? This is one of my concerns.

Yes, my sister recently delivered there and her and her roomate both had their babies in the room. Her roomate actually kept falling asleep holding her baby and my sister was worried the baby was going to fall!

Yes you can both have your baby with you. I choose to have my DC stay in the nursery during visiting hours and thru out the night. Everyone there were very easy going, if you want your baby with you they are fine with it. If you want your baby in the nursery they are fine with that as well. They will try their hardest to make you as a new mommy happy!

I'm afraid of what happens if only one of us wants the baby in the room. How would that be handled?!

It doesn't matter whoever wants the baby can have the baby if you don't the baby would be in the nursery.

Re: Good Sam WI Questions - For those who have delivered there.
I found the experience at Good Sam excellent!
My first nurse was very patient with the bfing and stayed there and helped me. I actually couldnt believe how patient she was.
They will let the baby stay with you or take the baby to the nursery. What ever you want.
They will even come in the middle of the night and let you know the baby is hungry if you want to bf or if you want them to feed him in the nursery.
One thing - if you want to bf and get a nurse that is less than helpful ( because one I had was) ask for their Lactation Consultant. She is super sweet and will come in and help. Don't let them pressure you into giving formula if you dont want to.
