Got an Offer (Two Actually)
Yesterday we had an open house, and when we came home we had two offers!
Only one was a serious offer, and we wound up accepting. It is $5,000 below the lowest figure we wanted to accept, but considering the way the market is going and the length of time we have had our place on the market, we really just want to be done with it. It's not worth dragging this out and possibly paying our maintenance after we move into our house for $5K. So we're keeping our fingers crossed that these people check out and sign the contract soon.
The other offer was bizarre. They saw the place for the first time at the open house and offered $200K. Our realtor told them this was too low (we're asking $265), and then they came up to $250. When the second offer came in, we asked him to go back to them and see if they would come higher. They then proceeded to make a lower offer! Nutty--we are guessing they decided they didn't want the place, but they could have just said that. I really don't understand people. It's just as well. Their parents would have had to cosign, and that would make me nervous.
