Governor of Texas
Ugh, wish we weren’t stuck with cuomo. Fingers crossed numbers in Texas stay low and cuomo gets enough pushback and we get less mask mandates / vaccine mandates here in NY as a result.
ETA....a couple people on these boards live in Texas. How many even go maskless? Is it an even split? Curious as it seems so here.

Re: Governor of Texas
TX and FL I have heard it is great to live in. So much happier. Our number is 0.7 I believe so we are doing great. The choice should be yourselves now.

I think Florida might be too or maybe just not getting state funds to implement/teach it. Not really a big deal bc if the local municipalities//school board want it, it will happen. The money for it will be found if they really want it.

I’m a proponent of CRT overall. But that aside, it doesn’t really matter. I believe stuff starts at home. The implementing or CRT or not isn’t going to change a student’s mind. He or she probably already has a view instilled of them of the world, society, and so on just from either the parents teaching or just overhearing conversation or even the channels broadcast in the living room.
I don’t need CRT implemented if I’m already practicing it at home, KWIM?

Re: Governor of Texas
Major abortion ban just passed - nothing after 6 weeks, no exceptions for rape or incest. It makes it almost impossible to get one.
If we lose Roe, Texas will be a state where women of reproductive age are stripped of their rights and essentially rendered second class citizens.
I would never in a million years want to raise children there, particularly a daughter.

Great reason to never move to Texas. Would gladly wear a mask in exchange the reversal of this.

So what that your daughter will lose her right to choose? She doesn't have to wear a mask! Freedom! Best state ever!!!

What I MEANT was that I would gladly wear a mask in exchange for allowing women to have the right to abortion. I would NEVER move to a state that would block that.

I know I was being sarcastic lol. It was in response to people who think that Texas is the best and most beautiful state ever because kids don't have to wear masks in school but yet those very children may end up not having a right to have choices and control over their own bodies.

Yeah. Just pray your daughters don’t get pregnant. I’ll take a mask mandate in a pro choice state. I could never live in a state that restricts a woman’s right to choose.

Surprised? Lololol Can’t stay on the issue of just masks as people can’t grasp these other states, no matter what other issues they don’t like, are doing ok with no masks.

I only have sons but I def understand the concerns mothers of daughters have, not only for their daughters but also for themselves, and for all women really. Just to be briefly since this is not what this thread is about, I don’t believe in anti abortion laws because they’re dictatorial and no one should ever feel entitled to tell u what u should or should not do with ur body (if u can’t tell by now I don’t believe in Big Government and any sort of mandates that come from it). I also believe that we should have a better system to help women not get to that point of abortion, I’m not talking about cases of rape, incest, etc. I’m talking about women that don’t have the right guidance to make the right decisions when engaging in sexual activities or really know how to protect themselves to avoid unplanned pregnancies. Sexual conversations are still taboo even in our time and that’s something that needs to change, starting at home with parents and as the child grows. This type of anti-abortion mentality is one of the reasons why I can’t align with the Republican Party, because of this type of extreme mentality. I used to be a Democrat but that was also a mistake.
Having said all this, I’m still happy the governor of TX decided to fully open the state, fine for masks mandates, and allow schools to drop mask mandates. Cuomo has a lot to learn!

I think the decision of Mayor DiBlasio not allow any remote learning in the NYC public schools in September is HUGE. Even though I am vocal about masks and vaccines, I do think this was the right choice. Teachers and students need to get back to school already. Hopefully the rest of the state will follow suit like in NJ.

I am still shocked they aren't all back full time already. It's becoming laughable. If they DIDN'T have full time in person next school year it would be practically criminal to be honest. How long do they want to carry this nonsense on for when vaccines are now widely and easily available to anyone who wants them and numbers are falling through the floor.

You should see what I'm reading from DOE teachers and parents. A lot of DOE parents want their children home again next year. But at this point, you need to homeschool then. Teachers will be dealing with filled classrooms again, they can't also be trying to give remote students an adequate education with 30 students in person they have to worry about. Remote can't be a new normal.

An education for all children, teens, and adults about sex education. The onus should not be on the female NOT to get pregnant. It takes a penis with some sperm too. Boys and men need to be make just as responsible for an unwanted pregnancy or pregnancy as females are.
