Grand Cayman/Turks and Caicos --kid-friendly Hotel Recs
Just thinking ahead for our vacation next year -- we will be traveling with a 1 1/2 year old so we need a kid friendly place (we have been to the palms in T&C and loved it but are thinking that we should look for something more kid friendly) Thank you!

We are going to Beaches Turks & Caicos in December. Based on reviews on here, its very kid friendly.

Definitly look into Beaches Turks and Caicos. We went when my niece was 18 months I think and it was perfect. Cannot say enough good things about that trip. (I just hear it has gotten really $$)

My friends went to Beaches a couple of years ago and could not think of one bad thing to say about anything...the food, service, activities, everything was top notch.

Re: Grand Cayman/Turks and Caicos --kid-friendly Hotel Recs
DH and I went to Grand Cayman on our honeymoon. We stayed in a condo that his cousin owns, so I can't comment on hotels but we found that the whole island was early to bed, early to rise. There was literally nothing to do after 12 pm. I'm sure with a 1 1/2 yr. old, you might not be out until 12 pm but if you and your husband wanted to go out alone for a couple hours...do it before midnight.
However, it was a nice a relaxing time. I believe six mile beach is the place to go. If you go, we recommend the Buckeneer's feast, it is at one of the hotels on the beach and sooo worth the $$. We also highly recommend snorkeling, it is beautiful.

Beaches in Turks and Caicos was ranked one of the top 10 family vacation places in Parent magazine. I've never been, but it seems like a good place to start!

Beaches Turks & Caicos is a wonderful resort. And you cant go wrong with all the Sesame Street activities for your 1 1/2 year old. I have quite a few of the activity listings & other info like the full menu's you cant find on the website if you need it. And - under two yrs old is free!!
On Camp Sesame, a very nice lady by the name of Fedeline Julian runs the Camp and she does a great job. I had the opportunity to sit in on some of their in service training and they are very serious about safety and security there...it's very re-assuring.
Right now, they are closed due to Hurricane Irene but they are set to re-open on October 6th.
We have great friends at the resort and I cant wait to go back in November

Wow, closed until October 6th! Will there be some specials when they reopen? I can't say enough about how much I loved that vacation. I never thought I would want to go to the same destination again but I hope to go back there within the next year and I am sure I will want to go again after that.

I dont know on the specials, but I am in contact with the staff and I will be asking that question. My guess, is for the re-opening, they will be having quite a celebration!!

Thanks. I just heard that Beaches was the only resort on the island that was able to keep enough generators going so that their guests were as comfortable as they could be. I hope no one was hurt there.

Re: Grand Cayman/Turks and Caicos --kid-friendly Hotel Recs
Everything turned out fine there. None of the guests were injured and many of the staff just stayed at the resort to make sure the guests were taken care of. Many of the guests had their vacations extended because there were no flights going in or out but all in all, things worked out.
And, I monitored the live webcam during & after. Within 24 hours of the Hurricane's passing....the sun came back out, and people were back on the beach!!
Stuck in Paradise - sounds like a good name for a book!!
