Grand Theft Auto Topped Over $500 Million in its First Week of Sales
The game costs $60.
How in the world can people afford to buy their children a $60 video game yet so many are crying poverty over the gas prices???
Am I the only one  over this?

Every Friday when we go out to dinner, we always wait an hour and a half for a seat. It makes me wonder.

I just don't understand it.
People are complaining about the cost of living yet a frivilous item such as a video game, they're willing to spend $60 for.
I don't get how people can complain about the looming recession yet a video game can reach such sales in a WEEK!!!

because people have their priorities flipped around...thats why.
parents would rather spoil their kids and buy them a game that is totally inappropriate for them.....than save that $$ and say "nope--let me use this money wisely for something else."

ugh!! i hear ya!!
i work in a school... i have a kindergartner who was talking about how he broke whatever game system he has... and how he had to wait 8 days for his mom to buy him a new one.
THEN in the next breath he started talking about how they " haven't paid the landlord in a long time and he wants his money"
where are people's prirorities?!?!

Honestly anyone who buys that game for the children is crazy! My DH got it the first day it came out. They have hookers you can pick up. You pay them they give you BJ's and get on your lap and 'jump up and down' There is no reason why a child needs to see that!
We saw something in the news about how a teenager stole a car and then blamed it on the game. Well how'd he get that game!?

I agree, it's a pretty violent game and not by any means appropriate for kids, but I'm talking economically.
People are complaing that they have no money, yet here is this $60 video game and it made over $500 Million in the week of its debut.

because people have their priorities flipped around...thats why.
Exactly, and because people will put it on their credit cards and figure they'll pay for it later. With so much debt, what's another $60.

I hate the game on prinicpal and I only hope adults purchased the game for adults, not children, but in any event, people will spend money on things like this in the best & worst of times....

you know whats crazy...when i used to work for best buy, and the GTA games would come out---each time the parents would be KILLING themselves to hurry up and get THE GAME for their children.
each time i would let them know "this is a rated M for Mature game-- it has violence, sex, drug use, etc. in it-- it is NOT meant for anyone under the age of 17."
and you know what? maybe 2 out of 10 parents would say, "well i'm not buying it!" and the rest would kind of shake their head and say "well its what he/she wants...and if i don't get it for them...i'm gonna be hearing it."
the spoiling of society is a HUGE problem and that is a prime example

MY DH bought it and he loves it but he said its totally inappropriate for children. He told a co-worker that he should not buy it for his 15 year old son.

haha i didnt buy it for my child i bought it for my husband.. i feel we need to get some nice things despite crying povertry b/c if all we did was pay off credit cards we'd be miserable
its 60 bucks for sanity ....
small price to pay
now a few thousand last week for vegas maaaay have been stupid but it too was for sanity... and it worked!
so instead of paying off our debt in 1 year it takes 1.5 years... works for us...
wow that took a werid turn to a GTA response sorry!
