I'm so dumb - I thought you guys couldn't access the checklists, not the ceiling fan article, so I erased this link - I will post it again later...

Yes, the ceiling fan article expired!

PSA: Ladies, please remember that this is just a guide. If you child does not follow it to a "T" then don't get hysterical. If there is something that you are overly concerned about, speak to your pediatrition. But, remember some babies develop later or earlier than others. Chat Icon

I was going to say the same thing...
If your child is meeting most milestones but may be a little late on another, don't freak out!

Re: Great Developmental Checklist

Thanks for posting that..I have a question though. DD was born at 35 weeks 6 days, so does that mean she will most likely be behind on her milestones?

Yes - thats why there is a range - she may be on the latter part of the range - I have to look at the checklist again - so lets say the checklist is for 3-5 months, you may expect most of her milestones to hit closer to the 5 mt mark... HTH!

If your baby was early then development milestones should be based on her adjusted age....according to due date

Thanks for bumping this. I have a follow up question. What does it mean if your kid hits milestone regularly, but late? I.e. if the checklist/book say 5-7 months but you kid does it at 8 or 9? Does that in itself indicate something?

Note: not for DD, she is hits things early, late and all over the place.

I should have edited that - everyone got nervous a long time ago because there was some article written by a mom of a child with autism who said she knew something was wrong when he was an infant and would stare t the ceiling fan. Lots of moms on here freaked out at that, because as we all know, all kids love ceiling fans. They were asking all sprts of questions, so I posted the developmental checklists to ease everyone's minds...

I will post a new link later...

sorry I didn't see this - its fine if a child hits it a month or 2 later - its more significant if its many months later, but bear in mind that some kids may miss milestones and hit others on time - think of all the late crawlers on here who began just walking a week after they crawed, or the kids who are late talkers and then explode with language...
