Great news for moms of 2 or more!! Breast pump and insurance related...
I got a Medela freestyle in 2010 with my first pregnancy covered by insurance with a small co-pay.
I called Edgepark again to see if I could get another pump. I figured the co-pay would be cheaper then buying the replacement parts I had planned to.
Turned out I was right! Even though it is my second pregnancy it was 90% covered and I just got my second Medela Freestyle for $19!
Just wanted to post as an FYI that even if you already have a pump, it's good to see if you can score another one
ETA the original post about getting insurance-covered breastpumps

My mom bought my pump for me in 2005 when I had Emily. It's been lent out and borrowed by tons of friends and I need to buy all new parts. Maybe I should just call EdgePark and see if they will cover a new one? I think I should do that! Thanks for the tip!

I know this is a stupid question...but how does Edgepark know that you are really pregnant? I saw somewhere on another post that a girl was only a few weeks along (well maybe 12) and was able to get one.

probably from the insurance company. I have UHC and my company offers a 'Maternity Support" program through the insurance co. They just called me out of the blue one day (before I told anyone at work). I asked how they got the info and they said it was based on the tests being billed for (sonogram, bloodwork, etc).
Edgepark did ask for my doctors info though so I don't know if they call them too?

I think they do need to get approval from your doctor (as well as through the insurance for coverage). I remember the first time, my doctor was the one holding things up. They had gotten the fax/letter from Edgepark and they just hadn't signed it and sent it back.
If you haven't tried, it is definitely worth it! The worst they can do is say there is no coverage. Best case - it can be FREE. Who doesn't love free?

Yes Edge Park asks for your OB's info and your insurance info. They send a form to your OB. Once they get it back, they contact your insurance.
If you have full coverage, they'll just mail the pump to you!
If you have a co-pay, deductible, or are not covered, they will call you back.
VERY easy.
I tried with my first baby and I wasn't covered for it. I have different insurance now so I called to place an order and should know by next week if it's covered. I'm guessing no, but I'm HOPING yes.
All you can lose is a few minutes of your time. Definitely worth looking into it. Edge Park will basically do all the work for you.
