Great Wolf Lodge Review

We spent Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday at Great Wolf.

Inital impression, the place is HUGE. We checked in, the line wasn't too bad, maybe 10 minutes. We were "friends" of Edgewood College. The guy asked for ID for the school and I said to check my reservation (I had it noted that being a friend w/o ID was ok before they changed the rules). He looked it over and said, yup $99 it is. We arrived around 1:30 and didn't have our room till almost 4. We were on the 4th floor room 4047. The elevator is painfully slow, lots of kids playing MagiQuest and people coming going from the pool. Our room was clean but the couch looked like the 800lb gorilla sat on the arm, it was crushedChat Icon Micro, mini fridge were handy.

We went straight to the waterpark. I didn't think it stunk of chlorine anymore than any other indoor pool. Kids everywhere. My 2 loved the kiddy slides, there are 4 of them. The floors and water were as clean as can be expected with as many people that were there. Finding a table/chairs kinda hard unless you are feeling lucky. The adult slides, the tubes rides were fun, wait not too long. The roller coaster water ride was AWESOME totally worth the wait! the wave pool equally as cool but we didn't spend a lot of time in there since it was packed and the baby didn't like getting pounded by waves.

Emma fell down, she slipped. I brought her to the lifeguard to get some antispetic, he wanted to put alcohol on it. Shes 5 and doesn't like stings. Ugh people. Helloooooooooo.

I didn't care for the tree house style contraption they have that gives people on top the ability to splash, dump water on, squirt people walking down below especially when you are carrying a little babyChat Icon

We got ice cream and a pastry there. It was good, not too expensive. We also got mini Pizza Hut pizzas before we left last night, ew but they did the trick.

The game room was another place to suck the money out of your wallet. The kids had fun though.

There were of course the kids running up and down the hallwayChat Icon it was especially nice at 1AM.Chat Icon Chat Icon For the most part everyone, including 99% of the other parents/guests were super niceChat Icon

Having a Starbucks right in the lobby is very nice! We went out to eat because we didn't want to pay $$ for what we hear was sub par food but the restaurants there can't even come close to comparing to a LI restaurant! We are spoiled here!

Overall if I didn't have the $99 code I would never ever spend the $$ they want a night there. It was a good time for the kids, they had a blast!! Anyone over 3 should have a ball!

Thanks for the detailed review.

My expectations aren't high, but for the price, can't complain. :)

Awesome!!!

Are they now expecting proof that you are an alumni???

We could never afford to go unless we get the special rate. I dont see where it says you may be expected to show proof????

Did you book in like the 1st week of April or before? I called on 4/6 and made sure it was 100% sure they wouldnt ask for ID. Now when you get there they are asking for ID. Make sure you call the resi office and note your resi that you dont need ID. My guy didn't ask after I said I didnt need it but the manager was right there when someone else asked and she said it was fine.

The $99 code was for Edgewood college Alumni and Friends. They have since changed it to JUST alumni of Edgewood College because I think the whole Friends thing is not what they wanted. If you book now with the EDGE code I am 99.9% sure it is JUST for Edgewood U alumni no longer "friends" which means they will want to see ID from the school.

Ahhhhhh Thanks!!!! I will make a few phone calls before I book then. I'd hate to get there and find out that I have to pay the full price..which isnt really an option...

Re: Great Wolf Lodge Review

Thanks for the review Karen. I heard from someone who went recently that the food is ultra expensive too. This person has 2 kids who are older than mine 8 & 9 yrs old I think and said that we should do the $75 kids package for other stuff besides the waterpark. I was going to wait to see when we get there if it's something that will be for my kids ages or if we can not do it.

Did you have to pay for the baby as a 5th person? There was nothing on the site about what age you have to pay for an extra person so I booked as 2 adults/2 kids and figured I could pay for the baby if they say that he is considered another person (he's not 2 yet so it's an iffy age when it comes to the policy in some places)

I hope they don't give me a hard time. I am bringing the Edgewood paper, my 2 confirmations and an attitude. Chat Icon I called 2x and got 2 different responses, the last one assured me the $139 is fine. I might call again....

Of course my DD has been a bit under the weather the past 2 days - off and on - I'm hoping she's feeling better tomorrow. If she gets worse it might just be a boys weekend.

Re: Great Wolf Lodge Review

What is the $75 kids thing? We stuck with the water park and no MagiQuest... eye poke wands as I like to call em. Someone there had breakfast for 7 people, ya know eggs and pancakes for $100. And that is 2 adults and 5 little peopleChat Icon There were 10 of us and we went off property for less than that!

Lukie was free, no worries about that. I think it's under 2 they dont charge for.

I think the managers there know that people are coming in using codes. Just make sure if someone says "i need your ID" and gives you a hard time speak to the manager. They seem to know that someone screwed up.

I hope everyone is healthy!!! Have a great time! We did, so much so that today even though it is BEAUTIFUL outside, the baby is asleep on my lap, Jeremy is asleep on the couch next to me and Emma is in my bed watching a movie.Chat Icon
