Grrr people and their stupid opinions
I was hanging with some friends yesterday and of course everyone was trying to guess what the baby is and/or get a reaction out of me....
Anyway, i had told my one friend a looooonnggg time ago some options that we were thinking of for Baby P's name. Of course, one of them is the one that stuck. So he mentions it and another one of my friends made a horrible comment about it and it made me  .
I know all that matters is that DH and I love it, but I obviously would like others to like it as well!!!!

If you let what other people think affect your choice in names that much... then either you don't like the name that much to second guess yourself or your feeling emotional....
In my opinion screw what others think, you may not like her kids name but who cares at the end of the day

I dont get people. How many times have people told me names that they like that i do not at all like and all i do is say, "oh that is such a good name" etc etc. No one needs to hear that you dont like the name they are gonna pick.

We have unusual names and hve heard all sorts of stuff-like, Is that really a name? etc. I actually find it amusing and do not care what anyone thinks...try t let it roll off if you guys like it

Tell people you are waiting till the baby is born to tell people the name. Maybe only tell your best friends or your family, if you want to talk about names. I think I may start doing this since, I can't stand people's comments anymore.

So far everyone's reaction to Shaylie's name has been positive. When I told 2 of my closest friends from work her entire name which is Shaylie (my last name) (DH's last name), they suggested that I pick a "normal" middle name for her. Like one said "well maybe you mom wants her middle name to be your grandmother's name". For starters, my mom is not the type of person to tell what to name my child and if she did ask me of course I would consider it. My other friend said I should change her middle name because if I keep it as it is now, she's going to get beat up in school. ***???????????? That had to be the stupidest reason I ever heard of. I mean that was really stupid. One day she told me what she would like to name her son if she ever has one and I didn't like the names. To me they were just too feminine, but I kept that comment to myself.
Anyway, Shaylie's name has stayed the same, but we did give her a second middle name - Marie for my grandmother. It had nothing to do with their opinions, it was something that I was thinking about for a while. DH didn't want her to have such a long name, but when I said Shaylie's name will represent 4 parts of her family - my mom and dad's side and DH's mom and dad's side. He understood where I was coming from and agreed.

This is one of the reasons we are not telling anyone, and I mean anyone, the name. Some ppl not happy with us about that, but oh well!
It's kind of fun...a little secret since everyone knows it's a girl...

None of my in laws liked the name DH and I picked out, My mom doesn't like it and my cousin made fun of it. Guess what?????
The name is "growing" on the in laws now, they even call him by his name now. I told my mom its not her child so too bad and I just gnored my cousin. Don't worry about other people!!!

Don't feel bad. My dh's whole family made such a big deal out of dd's name. I find comments like that to be rude and classless. I love her name and I do not care what they think. So neither should you!

People speak without thinking about what they are saying too often. I'm sorry it upset you. Don't let it affect your opinion of the name because you are right...it is all that matters.
