had a bad doctors appointment
So I had some blood work draw last week and she wanted to see me to go over it. I just knew it was going to be bad and sure enough it was My thyroid is off so she is increasing the dose, my cholesterol is through the roof, and my estrogen and progesterone are very low. She thinks I may have PCOS. I just started sobbing in the room. She is sending us to se a RE and i'm just devestated. I know it's a positive step, but I just never thought it would come to this. I don't know what to do. My diet is fine. Yes I need to tweak it and take th emeds now, but it's all so genetic and I can't fight genetics. What do you ladies know about PCOS? Sorry for the pity party I just didn't think we were at the RE step yet. I have NEVER even thought of it. I'll cross post this to Infertility as well.

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
Thanks ladies I just was so unprepared for today. I had a feeling my thyroid was off, but I NEVER expected to have issues like this with the rest of my hormones.

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
Its ok sweetie. You are already much better off then you were yesterday b/c you know what your issues are. I can't help where the PCOS is concerned, but I felt exactly thre way you are feeling, but once the information had time to sink in i felt mch better. We started seeing an RE just shy of 4 wks ago and I have long list of things wrong (1 being thyroid), but they are all treatable. Yes its going to take some sacrifice on my part and a lot of meds, but all in all I think it will be worth it when we are holding our baby in our arms.
If you want to talk feel free to FM me.

ughh i know i am sure it hit you hard and wasn't expecting it
but like Christine said.. sometimes its better to know what is wrong so it can all be fixed.. and now the doctors can do everything they can to get you that miracle!!

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
I know that I have a thyroid issue and PCOS as well as a blood clotting disorder and endometriosis. With the help of an RE- I am now almost 20 weeks pregnant.
You will be okay.

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
many hugs to you. I have PCOS so if you have any questions about it please dont hesitate to FM me. I've been diagnosed with it since I was 13 so its something I am used to. I started to see an RE just this past month. Although nobody wants to see one, it does offer a lot of hope.
Hang in there sweetie. Everything will work out in the end.

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
I have PCOS and my DH had male factor issues and we were able to conceive through IVF. The RE told me that PCOS - if you "have to have anything" - is the most treatable IF issue. PCOS can be controlled by changes in your diet, etc. I was put on Metformin and a lot of ladies succeed with the Met.

Thank you thank you thank you all ladies! You have made things much better! I appreciate everything mor ethen you know. I'm still pretty shocked with the mubers, but I know it WILL be ok, but that it's ok to be sad today. Tomorrow, however, I have to buck up and move forward! Have any low cholesterol diet tips

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
I know how you feel. It took us 13 long months of trying on our own for #2 before we'd consider seeing a RE- and now, looking back, I wish I would've done it AGES ago and not "wasted the time" of going it alone when I had issues that needed to be addressed.
Yes, the information is crazy- there is a lot to absorb, but there are so many of us here that can help you and hold your hand when you need it or offer a hug. We've been there.
take this all just one step at a time....

Re: had a bad doctors appointment
The good news is the bloodwork is revealing situations that are treatable. It does suC$ to have to hear all that news at once, but at least from here the doctor(s) can begin to provide treatment. Hang in there !
