Bad doctor appointment...
I had to go for my glucose, rhogam shot and sono tonight. The glucose was the easiest part! It didn't taste that bad (I had the fruit punch flavor) and it was nice and cold. The rhogam shot HURT. The prick wasn't that bad but the medicine going in hurt. After sitting around waiting to go into the sono I was excited to see the babies. They are so big now that you can't see them as well as before. The face shots are good, but it's hard to see a "whole" baby.
About 5 min into the sono I got all hot and sweaty. I am a fainter and had fainting episodes in my third month so I thought it would be like that and just pass after a minute. I turned onto my left side and the sono tech kept going along. DH and my brother were with me and they could tell I was getting more and more uncomfortable as time went on. I told the woman it was getting worse so she stopped and put a cold rag on my head. My normal fainiting spells are only a minute or two and I was just getting worse. Nothing was making me feel better. She made me drink soda (which prob screwed up my glucose test) that did nothing...then I lost all my sight and I couldn't hear well. I told DH that I was really scared. At that time my doctor was in the room, I had no color in my face and my lips were completely white.
After another 5 minutes I started to feel better and then slowly I felt like myself again. The pressure and weight of the babies is just too much when I lay down.
Baby A is 2lbs 12oz Baby B is 3lbs 2oz
everything looks good with them, i'm the one with the problems!

Re: Bad doctor appointment...
that sounds super scary.... BUT familiar!
I can't recall who posted a similar story, but someone on this board felt very wierd after the glucose drink. I recall her saying she was in the lab waiting room and felt light headed, and then couldn't talk... she lost her vision for a while too....
Becuase of that story, think your horrible experience could also be related to that d@mned glucose drink.... talk to your Dr. about it....
They gave you sugary soda on top of the glucose drink??! was that mid-test or after your blood sugar levels went back down to normal?

You poor thing, that sounds scary. I have a fear of fainting! Your babies sound like they are at such healthy weights!

yeah, I bet that put you over the edge... most of the glucose would have been in your blood already, your insulin is only beginning to respond, and automatically you're dosed with extra sugar
definitely speak to your Dr about it... I swear though, someone else on this board had an almost identical experience! she had to lay down, and it took a while for her vision and voice to return.... it was a super-scary thread

Re: Bad doctor appointment...
When I was pregnant with DD I had that happen a couple of times. One time I was in the mall standing on line with DH and all of a sudden I got very hot, nauseaus, dizzy and then lost my hearing and as I was walking out of the strore to get air everything went black. Then when I went for my 3 hr glucose test I was sitting in the lab and the same thing happened. They had to take me in a room and have me lay down. The next time it happened I was having a sono done and got all the same symptoms. It turned out I had Gestational Diabetes. That might be why you felt that way. It's a very scary feeling.
I hope your glucose test comes back negative. Glad to hear the babies are doing well though.

Re: Bad doctor appointment...
oddly enough i get exactly like that on the first day of my period. My hearing goes.. first sounds like a ringing and then I can't hear and my lips turn white and i get really faint and start sweating and i can't help but close my eyes and in a few minutes it passes. Although sometimes I would black out completely. Im not sure why I get this, but sounds like you got the same way. I get like this because of pain. Do you think because your shot hurt that it was a delayed reaction? I had a baby tooth pulled once when i was little and about 15 min after it was pulled thats when i fainted and got all of those symptoms. How weird.

I had sonos after that and it never happened again until I got the epi. Hopefully you won't have any more scares.

I. The rhogam shot HURT. The prick wasn't that bad but the medicine going in hurt.
yes, it does hurt, it's the freezing cold liquid that makes it so uncomfy!
it's great your babies are doing well

Re: Bad doctor appointment...
The same thing happened to me when I had my glucose test when I was PG with G. I was not eating any refined sugar before getting PG with G and was very careful about what I ate during that PG. The sugar shocked me I think. I passed the GD 1 hour though, so I am not really sure what it was.

Re: Bad doctor appointment...
I so sorry this happened to you. But am so happy your babies are doing so well.
When I had my scare and was in L&B they put me flat on my back to monitor meatball and I had a similar experience. I'm sure with the two of them in there sqwishing you it must have been 100% times worse! Did you Dr. seem concerned at all?
