Had a GREAT closing experience!!
We closed on our house in NC on Friday!
It was great. Everything on the contracts was as it had been discussed over the phone (I had a friend who recently closed here on LI and they tried to up the interest rate on her by a full percentage point...good thing she called them on it!!).
We actually GOT BACK $1500 from our bank check because they had overestimated the closing costs!
Because our house is new construction, there were no little nitty-gritty things we had to go through (oil left in the tank, etc.)
Our lawyer was SUPER-NICE...and we didn't have to pay for him! In NC, the seller's lawyer is required BY LAW to represent the buyer's interests first!
AND...when we were all done, they handed us a HUGE welcome basket full of Pampered Chef stuff!!!!!
So all in all, a VERY positive experience! Best of luck to all of you who will be closing very soon!

Glad to hear that!! When we closed on our new construction home in Sc it was the same way but I didn't get a nice welcome basket that you!! Nice job!!!!
