had a lactation class last night at SB hospital
I highly recommend everyone who will BF to attend a lactation class... it really eased my nerves. basically, it transformed my thoughts from 'this will be hard / hope I can do it', to 'this is normal and instictual, despite what modern society suggests, and I will be successful'.
I feel much better now!

I took the one at Stony Brook with my last pregnancy and thought it was fantastic.

We both went to a BFing class at LIJ. I am glad we did. The lactation consultant was reasonable and not militant. She did not pass judgments on anyone's choices or plans to BF. I would recommend it to people if they are on the fence. I would also recommend bringing DH's/SO's with you. Having their support will make the experience much easier.

yep! and they even asked him to introduce us... (name, due date, OB practice and dr's we visit, and name of ped... I'm happy to report he knows all of that detailed info  )

I can only speak for SBU hospital
call 444-2201 and say you're interested in taking the lactation class... I believe there's 1 a month  (It's free, and you don't need a Dr referral)
