Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
Went in my closet to get dressed for work today. Had to dress up for 5th grade graduation. I had nothing and I mean NOTHING that made me feel good about myself. I went through my closet for almost 20 minutes. I almost wish I could still wear my maternity clothes.
Because I always wore things that were form-fitting, it REALLY shows that I'm not in the shape I once was. And I most certainly was a size below what I'm at now. Even the size I'm in now doesn't fit well.
I'm so frustrated. I know I've barely begun to get in shape again...but I guess what hurts the most is, I worked YEARS to be the shape I was in before I was pregnant. I had lost 50 lbs, and kept it off for 6 years. I worked out 6 days a week and LOVED it. Now, I don't have the motivation. I'm too tired, would rather spend the time with Riley.
I guess my problem is, I just want my body back NOW. And I feel so frustrated that it's so hard to keep up with a workout routine. I hate feeling disgusting in everything I wear. And I know I won't feel better right away. All that hard work, gone.
Please help me get through this! Sorry this is so long, I just needed to vent. I know many people would slap me for feeling like this...and I get enough people telling me I look fine. But I don't FEEL fine, and that's what matters.
Thanks for listening

So sorry you are feeling this way. I lost 50 lbs too almost a year ago and know how hard it is to work to keep it off. I have not had any children yet so I don't know what my body will be like afterwards. All I can do is maybe suggest trying to squeeze in 2 or 3 days a week of some type of exercise because I am sure that will make you feel better mentally as well as physically. I am sure you look amazing but I know no matter how many ppl tell you that you have to feel that within yourself! Give yourself a break it is possible to get back to where you were before. I have seen so many ppl have children and get back in shape the way they were before. I know you can do it and will when you are ready to!

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
I didn't have a baby but I gained ALOT of weight after I got married so I kinda feel your pain.
I worked really hard for my body pre-wedding and i totally get your frustration. Honestly, idk what your financial situation is but do yourself a favor and go out and buy some new clothes that flatter you. Not alot!!! But just a few things your comfortable in that will get you from A-B without making u feel dumpy every time you get dressed. It may not solve the immediate problem of your weight gain but it will do WONDERS on your mental health

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
it's so hard to get back into it all, don't beat yourself up. You will get there, but you are right that it is little by little. BUt, the sooner you start (which you've already done), the sooner you will get there.
Just think about how good you will look by the start of the new school year-let that be your focus:

I felt the same exact way. Other people don't understand b/c you probably do look fine, just not the same as before.
Well, I did wear my materninty pants for a while & even bought new ones because they fit better. You should also buy some flattering shirts in cuts that you're not used to. I had to try on things i never would have before being pg but they actually look much nicer than I expected.
You'll find a balance & eventually feel comfortable

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have been there. I gained a lot of weight in college, then worked to lose ~35 lbs before my wedding. I felt in shape, I felt attractive, I was happy with how I looked, and I was happier overall than I'd been in years....then I got pregnant. I gained 40 lbs with DD and let's just say some of it was not necessary baby weight (more like cookie weight!). After I had her and a few months had passed, I was exactly where you are now - standing in a closet surrounded by garments I had tossed on the floor in disgust. I felt like I was right back to where I'd started - all my hard work down the drain, and me back to feeling fat and miserable about myself.
It took a long time to get out of that funk, but I started telling myself that doing a little something every day was better than nothing. I had previously thought that if I couldn't do an hour+ workout, it was useless. But I started doing 20 or 30 minute DVD workouts, taking a walk at lunch, really anything to be active. That took away the "guilt" of not having exercised. Then I cleaned up my diet - went back on WW online, cut back on portions, re-introduced more fruits and veggies, etc. That took away the "guilt" of me feeling like whatever I ate the day before was contributing to me being fat the day after. As DD got older, I was able to regulate my schedule more and more. Now she's in bed by 7 and I can get a workout in after I put her down. It's not perfect, and I still miss my hard core workouts, but I'm now just 4 lbs above my pre-preg weight and I'm starting to pull some stuff back out of the closet.
Sorry this is so long, but I have totally been there and I know how hard it is. Feel free to FM anytime.

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
Awww Tara - I'm so sorry you're feeling this way I had a post-baby meltdown recently myself, so I can relate. I know it's hard, especially when it's slow-going, but you'll get there again. Just keep doing what you can...you're off for the summer, right? Without having to work it should be a lot easier to get back to a routine that you're happy with, no?

You'll get back to where you want to be. You were able to do it before and you'll do it again. Maybe it will take longer, but you WILL get there because you're determined. I wish I had some magic words of wisdom or motivation. Just know you're not alone and we're all here to support you.

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
You girls are awesome. Thank you so much!
I think that was the meltdown I needed. It was really bad and it felt AWFUL but I needed awake up call. I worked out tonight and I gave it so much because I was so damn pizzed and determined. I MUST keep it up!! It feels awesome...even if it is only 20 minutes that I get.
And yes, M...the summer will certainly help. I definitely plan on doing stroller strides, and walking A TON with Riley. I just hope somehow I can keep it up!!
Thanks again ladies!

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
i was just there. took out my spring clothes and couldn't fit into a damn thing. i wanted to punch a hole in the wall out of frustration! that was it though-joined WW (best thing ever) and put on my running sneakers and reluctantly go running after my kids are asleep and DH is home. i have lost almost 15lbs in 2.5 months! glad you got the motivation! take your little one for walks too! that has helped me big time!

Re: Had a post baby body meltdown this morning
Best thing I did for myself while I was working to get my body back was buy a few nice things that were the size up. I knew they were only temporary but at least in the meantime I felt I looked decent in some clothing. As soon as I got my body back, those clothes were donated.
